Ivermicol Gel (Ivermectin) 50ml
Description:
Transparent hydrophilic gel with colorless to yellowish opalescence.
Compound:
1 g of the drug contains active ingredients:
Ivermectin – 5 mg;
D-panthenol 15 mg.
Excipients: methyl parahydroxybenzoate, propyl parahydroxybenzoate, denatonium benzoate, dimethyl sulfoxide, isopropyl alcohol, glycerin, carboxymethylcellulose, purified water.
Pharmacological properties:
An antiparasitic drug with a pronounced acaricidal effect on larvae and mature individuals of sarcoptoids (Sarcoptes canis, Notoedres cati, Otodectes cynotis) and demodectic (Demodex canis D. cati, D. gatoi) ticks.
The active ingredient of the drug is ivermectin, which belongs to the chemical group of macrocyclic lactones. The pharmacological action of ivermectin consists in blocking nervous or neuromuscular transmission by acting on γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), as a result of which the transmission of nerve impulses of ectoparasites is disrupted, which leads to their paralysis and death.
D-panthenol (a derivative of pantothenic acid) is a water-soluble B vitamin that stimulates the regeneration of the skin and mucous membranes, normalizes cell metabolism, accelerates mitosis and increases the strength of collagen fibers. Has a wound healing and weak anti-inflammatory effect.
The drug is practically not absorbed into the body, acts superficially and exhibits acaricidal action in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands of the skin.
Application:
Treatment of dogs, cats and other carnivores with sarcoptic and demodectic ticks.
Dosage:
Outwardly once a day.
In case of demodicosis, the drug is applied in a thin layer to the previously cleaned affected skin areas from the periphery to the center and 1-2 cm around them, gently rubbing, at the rate of 0.2-0.3 g per 1 kg of animal body weight. The treatment is repeated 2-4 times with an interval of 5-7 days until the clinical signs of the disease disappear. With a large area of skin lesions, it is recommended to treat the affected areas first on one half of the animal’s body, in a day – on the second half of the body.
In case of otodectosis (ear scabies), the drug is injected into both ears (even in cases of damage to only one) at 0.2-0.5 g, depending on the size of the animal. The ear canal is preliminarily cleaned with a swab from scabs and crusts, for a complete treatment of the ear surface, the auricle is folded in half lengthwise and lightly massaged. The treatment is repeated after 5-7 days until the clinical signs of the disease disappear (2 treatments). In advanced cases of a disease complicated by otitis media, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed.
For acarosis complicated by a bacterial infection, it is recommended to use antibacterial drugs.
Contraindications:
Do not use in malnourished and sick animals.
Caveats:
When applying the drug, it is necessary to take measures to prevent its licking within 10-15 minutes: put on a muzzle, hold it in your hands, give the animal tasty food.
If signs of skin irritation appear, the drug is removed with a swab and washed off with water.
The drug is toxic to fish and bees.
