Metronidazole 25% is a medicinal product intended for veterinary use in the form of a fine-crystalline powder.
Composition
Content of active ingredients 1 g of medicinal product:
metronidazole – 250 mg.
Pharmacological action The
drug has a bactericidal property against bacteria that restore nitro groups using an enzyme system.
Metronidazole is an antibacterial and antiprotozoal substance derived from 5-nitroimidazole. Destroys the regiblication of the DNA system, as well as protein synthesis in the microbial cell, inhibiting tissue respiration. Metronidazole has the ability to penetrate the cells of bacteria most sensitive to the drug.
Application
Metronidazole is used to treat anaerobic infections, ulcerative gingivitis, amebiasis, trichomoniasis, giardiasis, giardiosis, diarrhea.
It is used to treat dogs and cats.
Dosage The
drug is intended for oral administration in a dose: per 1 kg of body weight – 40 mg of the drug 2 times a day. In the treatment of giardiosis – 100 mg / kg body weight. Duration of admission is 10 – 20 days.
Contraindications
A contraindication to use is the body’s intolerance to the components that make up the drug, as well as the first trimester of pregnancy and the period of feeding.
Caution
Do not take the drug to animals in the first trimester of pregnancy. The use of the drug in the second or third trimester is used only if the benefit to the animal is greater than the potential risk to the fetus.
During the treatment of the animal with the drug, the feeding of the offspring must be suspended.
