Highly effective broad-spectrum anthelmintic.
The active ingredient is albendazole. It is used for the prevention and treatment of helminthiasis in cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, carnivores (dogs, cats, fur animals).
Effective against round (nematodes) and flat (cestodes, trematodes) helminths, as well as their immature forms.
Has an ovocidal effect (destroys helminth eggs).
A new therapeutic form – gel – significantly increases the effectiveness and speed of the drug. In addition, the formulation of the gel makes it easier to feed the drug, especially to cats and dogs, thus protecting the animals from unnecessary stress and ensuring that they have received the full dose.
Convenient packaging: plastic bags of 5 ml and 10 ml.
Description
Homogeneous gel-like mass from white to grayish color.
Compound
1 ml of the drug contains:
active ingredient albendazole – 20 mg,
excipients: propylene glycol, xanthan gum.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet QP52, veterinary anthelmintic drugs (QP52AC11, albendazole).
The active ingredient of the drug albendazole, methyl [5 – (propylsulfanyl) -1H-benzimidazol-2-yl] carbamate, belongs to the benzimidazole group.
The mechanism of action of albendazole is to disrupt glucose transport, disrupt microtubular function and reduce the activity of fumarate reductase in helminths, which causes paralysis of the muscles of parasites and leads to their death.
Albendazole is administered to animals without diet or laxatives.
Application
Prevention and treatment of animals with parasitic diseases caused by:
cattle, sheep, goats:
– gastrointestinal nematodes: Haemonchus contortus, Ostertagia spp, Trichostrongylus axei, Trichostrongylus colubriformis, Cooperia radi oncophora, Oesathagostom
– pulmonary nematodes: Dictyocaulus vivaparus, Dictyocaulus filaria;
– cestodes: Moniezia expansa, Moniezia benedeni, M. autumnalia, etc.;
– trematodes: Fasciola hepatica;
in pigs:
– gastrointestinal nematodes: Ascaris suum; Oesophagostomum spp .; Trichocephalus spp .; Strongyloides spp .; Metastrongylus spp .;
in horses:
– cestodes (tapeworms): Moniezia expansa;
– pulmonary nematodes: Dyctyocaulus vivaparus;
in carnivores (dogs, cats, fur animals):
– gastrointestinal nematodes: Toxocara spp., Toxascaris spp., Uncinaria spp., Ancylostoma spp., Trichocephalus spp.,
– cestodes: Taenia solium, latylidium caninum, Diphylloboth;
– trematodes: Opisthorchis felineus.
Dosage
The drug is used once orally, individually with food, without diet, in doses (ml per 10 kg of body weight):
cattle: nematodes, cestodes – 3.75; trematodes – 7.5;
sheep, goats: nematodes, cestodes – 2.5; trematodes – 5.0;
pigs: nematodes – 5.0;
horses: nematodes, cestodes – 2.5;
dogs, cats, fur animals: nematodes, cestodes, trematodes – 12.5.
Do not mix with hot food.
If necessary, the administration of the drug is repeated after 14 days.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to drugs of the benzimidazole group.
Do not use in pregnant animals in the early stages of pregnancy (calf cows in the first month of pregnancy or during the first month after the last insemination) due to the teratogenic and embryotoxic effects of the drug.
The drug is prescribed with caution to animals with impaired liver, kidney and hematopoietic system functions.
Warning
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 14 days after the last use of the drug, milk cannot be eaten by people after 5 days. Until the specified time, meat and milk are fed to unproductive animals or disposed of (depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian).
