Pharmacological properties

The introduction of hypertonic glucose solution 20% changes the osmotic-dynamic balance between blood plasma and tissue fluid, increases osmotic pressure, increases fluid flow and metabolism and toxins from tissues into the blood, accelerates metabolism, enhances diuresis, improves heart function, dilates blood vessels . Glucose directly affects the course of biochemical processes in tissues, provides energy supply associated with glycolysis, and activates the functions of internal organs.

Glucose is a source of easily digestible energy with enhanced functional activity of the brain, improves autonomic innervation. Together with galactose and lactose it is used for the synthesis of acetylcholine, activates the contractile function of the myocardium, especially in fatigue, improves coronary circulation, improves the performance of the heart muscle under excessive stress, infectious diseases and intoxications. Glucose enhances uterine contractility in childbirth and the postpartum period, in the case of metritis has anti-inflammatory effect, stimulates muscle function. Energy production during the contraction of striated muscles is associated with the breakdown of creatine phosphoric acid and the use of easily digestible carbohydrates such as glucose.

Indication

Contraindication

Do not use in animals with hyperglycaemia.

Method of application and dosage

Before use, the drug is heated to body temperature, administered slowly and only intravenously. The dose for large animals is 1-2 ml per 1 kg of body weight.

Small domestic animals and piglets are given a 5% solution. To do this, add three parts of highly purified water or water for injections to one part of a 20% glucose solution. The dose is 4-8 ml per 1 kg of body weight. The calculated dose is divided into 2-3 injections and injected into different places (subcutaneous injection is allowed).

Reservation

Do not inject under the skin, as this may cause subcutaneous tissue necrosis.

With rapid intravenous administration there is a risk of phlebitis, blood clots.

The drug is incompatible with hexamethylenetetramine (urotropin), alkaloid solutions (causes their decomposition), general anesthetics (reduces their activity).

Glucose weakens the action of analgesics, adrenomimetics, nystatin, inactivates the action of streptomycin, prolongs the action of drugs, adrenaline, penicillin.
