Description
Barrier Ultra Flea & Tick Drops (permethrin, imidacloprid) weighing more 5 kg, 4 pipettes x 1 ml
Transparent oily liquid, from light yellow to yellow-brown color with a specific smell of the constituent components.
composition of
1 ml of the drug contains active ingredients:
imidacloprid – 100 mg
permethrin – 400 mg.
Excipients: PEG-400, isopropyl alcohol.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet QP53, ectoparasiticides, insecticides and repellents (QP53AC54 permethrin, combinations)
Imidacloprid– ectoparasiticides of the chloronicotinyl group. Has a high affinity for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in the postsynaptic regions of the central nervous system. It blocks the transmission of nerve impulses at the level of the acetylcholine receptor of the postsynaptic membrane and prolongs the opening of sodium channels, which leads to excessive nervous excitement in arthropods, as a result of which they die.
The weak interaction of imidacloprid with nicotinic receptors in mammals causes a low level of penetration through the blood-brain barrier; therefore, imidacloprid practically does not affect the central nervous system of animals. Imidacloprid is effective against flea larvae and adults (adults).
Permethrin– contact insecticide of the group of synthetic pyrethroids. Its mechanism of action is to block the conduction of a nerve impulse in the body of ectoparasites by reducing the permeability of membranes for sodium ions, which leads to irreversible paralysis and its death.
This combination of substances acts synergistically, exhibiting insecticidal, acaricidal and repellent activity of the drug, thereby reducing the risk of the spread of vector-borne diseases in dogs (babesiosis, ehrlichiosis, borreliosis, rickettsiosis, leishmaniasis).
After application of the drug, its active components, practically not absorbed into the systemic circulation, are distributed over the surface of the body for 24 hours and, holding on to the epidermis and wool, retain insectoacaricidal and repellent activity for up to 4 weeks.
application
Prevention and treatment of dogs in case of damage by ectoparasites: fleas (Ctenocephalides spp.) Lice (Trichodectescanis) by lice (Linognathussetosus) parasitiform ticks (Ixodesspp., Dermacentorspp., Rhipicephalusspp., Mosquitoes, mosquito repellents, mosquitoes, mosquito repellents) flies and the like.
It can also be used to treat allergic flea dermatitis.
dosage
The drug is applied externally, directly to dry, intact skin using an ampoule-dropper to places inaccessible for licking – to the withers and along the spine in doses:
dogs weighing 1.5 – 5 kg – 0.5 ml of the drug
weighing 5 -10 kg – 1.0 ml of the drug
weighing 10-20 kg – 2.0 ml of the drug
body weight 20-30 kg – 3.0 ml of the drug;
body weight 30-40 kg – 4.0 ml of the drug.
For more accurate dosing, apply the drug at the rate of 0.1 ml per 1 kg of body weight or use a combination of dropper ampoules of different volumes. When processing large animals, apply the drug in several places along the spine, from the withers to the tail.
The drug is applied once. The protective effect lasts for 4 weeks. After this period, if necessary, the treatment can be repeated (but not more than 1 time per week).
In the treatment of allergic flea dermatitis, it is advisable to use the drug in combination with drugs for pathogenetic and symptomatic therapy.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the constituent components of the drug.
Do not use on sick, malnourished or old animals.
Do not use on animals of other species. When keeping dogs and cats together, in order to prevent hereditary poisoning (when licking), do not allow the cat to come into contact with the treated dog until the sites of application of the drug are completely dry.
Do not use in puppies under 7 weeks of age and weighing less than 1.5 kg.
Do not administer to animals during pregnancy and lactation.
Do not use simultaneously with other insecticidal products.
caution
In some cases, the animal may have individual skin reactions (redness, itching), which disappear within 2-3 days and do not require the use of drugs.
If an allergic reaction is detected in a drug sensitive to the components of the drug, the animals should be thoroughly washed off with soap and plenty of running water, if necessary, symptomatic treatment should be carried out.
In case of an accidental overdose of the drug, some animals may experience depression, increased salivation, muscle tremors. In this case, the drug should be thoroughly washed off with soap and plenty of running water, if necessary, symptomatic treatment should be carried out.
The drug is toxic to cats, bees, fish and other aquatic organisms.
Carry out processing of animals in rubber gloves.
Do not smoke, drink, or eat while working with the drug.
After finishing work with the preparation, wash your hands with warm water and soap.
