Composition:

1 tablet (1 g) contains active ingredients:

sulfadimezin – 0.4 g;

trimethoprim – 0.08 g

Pharmacological properties:

Trimezin is a combination drug that contains sulfadimezin and trimethoprim.

The mechanism of action consists in inhibition by each component of the activity of two different enzymes involved in the biosynthesis of folic acid in bacteria. The two-stage action of the drug significantly increases its effectiveness and reduces the possibility of the development of resistant strains of microorganisms.

Sulfadimezin is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide. It acts bacteriostatically on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria (E. coli, Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Listeria monocytogenes, Corynebacterium spp., Borysiella spp., Protedeus spp., Protedeus spp. ., Toxoplasma spp. And Rickettsia spp.). The mechanism of action is associated with para-aminobenzoic acid and competitive inhibition of dihydropteroate synthetase, which leads to disruption of the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.

Trimethoprim is a chemotherapeutic drug with a bacteriostatic effect on gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp. And others) and gram-negative microorganisms (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteteus spp., Proteteus spp. spp., Bordetella spp. etc.). Inhibits bacterial reductase, which converts dihydrofolic acid into tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.

Application:

Treatment of calves (up to 3 months of age), lambs (up to 3 months of age), foals (3-8 months of age), pigs, dogs, patients with salmonellosis, colibacillosis, mycoplasmosis, sepsis, as well as diseases of the respiratory and genitourinary system, digestive tract, with wound infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to trimethoprim and sulfadimezin.

Dosage:

Orally with food, drinking water or milk at a dose of 1 g (1 tablet) of the drug per 15 kg of animal body weight. The dose is set once a day or divided into 2 portions and set every 12 hours. During treatment, animals are provided with free access to water. The drug is used until the clinical signs of the disease disappear and for the next two days (in the treatment of salmonellosis of calves – 5 days), but not more than 10 days.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to sulfadimezine and trimethoprim.Do not use in animals with impaired function of the hematopoietic organs, liver, kidneys. It is forbidden to use Trimezin for lactating bitches and sows.

Warning:

Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed 7 days after the last use of the drug. The meat obtained by the specified date is disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of a veterinary doctor.
