Description:
Tablets of pale yellow or yellow ellipsoidal shape with grooves.
Composition:
One tablet contains active ingredients: pyrantel embonate – 144 mg, praziquantel-50 mg., Oxantel embonate – 559 mg.
Pharmacological action:
ATCvet classification code – QP52AA51 Dolpak® 10 for dogs is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic drug containing the active ingredients praziquantel, a pyrazinisoquinolone derivative, and pyrantela embonate, a tetrahydropyrimidine derivative and oxantel.
- Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed by the outer shell of tapeworms, resulting in damage and contraction, which leads to paralysis of parasites.
- Pyrantel acts as a cholinergic antagonist, inducing spastic paralysis of roundworms by depolarizing neuromuscular blockade.
- Oxantel acts as an oxyphenolic derivative of pyrantel, which enhances its action against roundworms.
Application:
Deworming dogs with nematodes and cestodes: Toxocara cati (syn. Mystax), Ancylostoma sp., Dipylidium caninum, Hydatigera (Taenia) taeniaeformis, Mesocestoides spp., E. multilocularis., Joyeuxiellapasqualei.
Dosage:
Administered orally once, tablets can be administered directly inside (per os). The recommended dose is 20 mg oxantel / 5 mg PIRANTEL / 5 mg praziquantel per 1 kg of body weight, equal to 1 tablet per 10 cc of body weight. Food can be given 1:00 before or after a meal.
