Structure
1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient:
imidocarb dipropionate, calculated on dry matter – 120 mg.
Excipients: propionic acid, water for injection.
Pharmacological properties
ATC vet QP51, antiprotozoal veterinary drugs (QP51AE01, imidocarb) Imidocarb dipropionate is active to internal erythrocytic parasites: Babesia bovis, B. ovis, B. bigemina, B. colchica, B. equi, B. divergens, B. canis, B. caballi, B. gibsoni, Francaiella colchica, Theileria annulata, T. sergenti, T. mutans, T. orientalis, T. ovis, T. recondita, T. tarandirangiferis, Trypanosoma brucei, Nuttallia equi, Anaplasma marginale, A. ovis, Ehrlichia canis – pathogens of piroplasmosis, fransayellosis, babesiosis, theileriosis, anaplasmosis, nuttaliasis, trypanosomiasis, ehrlichiosis. The mechanism of the antiprotozoal action of imidocarb is associated with the suppression of the intake of inositol, which is necessary for the vital activity of blood parasites, as well as with the disruption of the formation and use of polyamines by parasites.
Application
Prevention and treatment of parasitic blood diseases – piroplasmosis, fransayellosis, babesiosis, theileriosis, anaplasmosis, nuttaliosis, trypanosomiasis, ehrlichiosis and mixed invasions in cattle, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules, horses, dogs.
Dosage
The drug is administered to animals in compliance with the rules of asepsis and antiseptics in the neck area, subcutaneously.
In dogs, the drug should be administered subcutaneously.
The recommended prophylactic and therapeutic dose of Imidopyran® for dogs is from 0.3 to 0.5 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight (6.6 mg of imidocarb dipropionate per 1 kg of animal body weight).
For prophylactic purposes, the drug is administered to dogs once a season with the threat of an attack on animals by ixodid ticks (hunting, hiking in a forest).
The administration of the drug to dogs for therapeutic purposes is repeated after 2 weeks (only 2 administrations per course of treatment).
Dogs should be monitored by a veterinarian for at least 15 minutes after drug administration. Along with Imidopyran®, dogs are recommended to use antihistamines.
In cattle, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules and horses, the drug should be administered once subcutaneously, preferably in the neck area.
The recommended therapeutic dose of Imidopyran® is 1 ml per 100 kg of animal body weight; prophylactic – 2.5 ml of Imidopyran® per 100 kg of animal body weight.
Prophylactically, Imidopyran® is used when one or more animals with clinical signs of the disease appear in a herd (group) of animals, when ixodid ticks – carriers of blood parasitic diseases – are invaded (or threatened), and also within 1 week after the animals have moved to epizootically unfavorable conditions. regions for these diseases:
cattle – once every 6 weeks;
horses, donkeys and mules – once every 4 weeks.
Due to the possibility of a painful reaction, the drug is not recommended to be administered in one place to large animals in a volume of more than 10 ml, to small animals in a volume of more than 2.5 ml.

Contraindications
Do not administer the drug to animals with increased individual sensitivity to the components of the drug!
Do not use the drug within 4 weeks after vaccination with live vaccine against babesiosis or anaplasmosis!
Do not use the drug simultaneously with anticholinesterase drugs.
Warning
A painful reaction is possible after injection at the injection site.
There is information about the possibility of developing adverse reactions in dogs in the form of cholinergic signs: increased salivation, mucus from the nose, periodic vomiting. Choking, increased nervous excitement, diarrhea, moderate inflammation of the injection site are less common. Side effects are eliminated by subcutaneous administration of a 1% solution of atropine sulfate.
With the mass death of blood parasites and the destruction of erythrocytes after using the drug in animals, intoxication may occur. In such cases, intensive therapy is carried out, including intravenous administration of electrolyte solutions and hepatoprotectors.
For animals with clinical signs of babesiosis, it is advisable to use antihistamines before the administration of Imidopyran®.
Imidopyran® should not be administered intravenously or intramuscularly to cattle, goats, sheep, donkeys, mules and horses, as well as intravenously to dogs, with intramuscular administration to dogs, severe pain is noted. Do not use the drug without the appointment of a veterinarian. The introduction of a repeated dose not specified in the leaflet or deviations from the course are prohibited.
Use with caution in animals with impaired functions of the kidneys, lungs and liver.
Before mass processing of animals, each batch of the drug must be tested on a small group of animals (5-10 animals). In the absence of complications, all livestock are treated within 3 days.
Slaughter of cattle, horses and sheep for meat is allowed 28 days after the last application of Imidopyran®. In the case of the forced slaughter of animals before the established date, the meat can be used for feeding fur animals. Milk of dairy cows and mares can be used for food purposes 4 days after the last administration of Imidopyran®. The milk obtained earlier than the established period after boiling can be used for feeding animals. Sheep milk, which was injected with Imidopyran®, should not be used for food purposes during the entire lactation period.
When carrying out therapeutic and prophylactic measures using the drug Imidopyran®, it is necessary to observe the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with veterinary drugs.
In case of accidental contact of the drug on the skin or mucous membranes, it must be washed off with running water and soap, if ingested, immediately consult a doctor, having with you a leaflet or a label of the drug.
