1. General information 1.1 PimoPET is an analogue of Vetmedin. 1.2 In appearance, the drug is a flat-cylindrical tablet with beveled edges of a reddish color with a slight specific odor, with a cruciform groove. 1.3 One tablet weighing 320 mg contains: 5.0 mg pimobendan and excipients. 1.4 Produced in packs of 30 and 100 tablets in plastic jars of appropriate capacity with opening control. 1.5 Store at temperatures from 0 ° C to + 25 ° C and relative humidity no more than 75%. 1.6 Shelf life of the drug in unopened containers 36 months from the date of manufacture, subject to storage conditions. 2.Pharmacological properties 2.1 Pharmacological properties of the drug are due to the active substance – pimobendan, which is part of its composition. Penobendan is a benzimidazole derivative, refers to non-steroidal cardiotonic drugs. The drug partially inhibits phosphodiesterase III and at the same time increases the sensitivity of myofibrils of the heart to calcium ions. Pinobendan not only enhances the contractile function of the myocardium, but also provides arterial vasodilation. 2.2 The drug is excreted from the body mainly through the liver. 3. How to use the drug 3.1 PimoPET is used in dogs in the treatment of cardiovascular insufficiency caused by dilated cardiomyopathy or valve insufficiency (mitral and / or tricuspid valve regurgitation) with characteristic symptoms such as cough, shortness of breath, decreased exercise tolerance or ascites. 3.2 The dose of the drug is 0.5 mg of active ingredient per 1 kg of body weight. The daily dose is divided into 2 doses, which corresponds to 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet in the evening for 20 kg of live weight. The width of the therapeutic dose ranges from 0.2 mg to 0.6 mg per 1 kg of body weight, divided into two doses per day, daily. PimoPET is administered orally, approximately one hour before feeding. The drug can also be administered in combination with a diuretic such as furosemide. In the case of decompensated heart failure, lifelong long-term therapy with PimoPET is recommended. The maintenance dose should be selected individually depending on the severity of the disease. 3.3 Side effects. In rare cases, there is a slight positive chronopropic effect (increased heart rate), as well as vomiting. These effects are dose dependent and can be prevented by dose reduction. 3.4 Contraindications. Hypersensitivity to pimobendan. The drug should not be used for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and diseases in which an increase in cardiac output cannot be achieved for functional or anatomical reasons (for example, with stenosis of the aortic opening). PimoPET is not used in dogs with severe hepatic impairment, puppies under 6 months of age, pregnant or lactating bitches, dogs with congenital heart disease, diabetes mellitus and other serious metabolic diseases. 3.5 Interaction with other substances. The pimobendan-induced rise in contractility is attenuated by calcium antagonists such as verapamil and beta-blockers such as propranolol. with stenosis of the aortic orifice).
