Description:

Transparent colorless or slightly yellowish liquid with opalescence.

Storage:

1 ml of the drug contains active substances:

tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) – 50 mg;

sodium selenite – 0.5 mg.

Excipients: hydrogenated castor oil, benzyl alcohol, glycerin, water for injections.

Pharmacological properties:

Vitafarm E-Selenium is a water-soluble complex of vitamin E and selenium, which replenishes the body of animals and birds with vitamin E and selenium.

Vitamin E is a biological antioxidant that protects cells from damage by free radicals, participates in fat metabolism, the formation of cell membranes, strengthens the walls of blood vessels, and also ensures cellular respiration, increases the body’s general resistance, and stimulates the reproductive function of animals.

Selenium is a trace element of the body’s antioxidant protection, it is a part of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase, which protects membrane structures, mitochondria from lipid peroxidation, has a strong immunostimulating effect, is a part of selenoprotein enzymes, hormones, and contributes to the assimilation of vitamin E to a large extent.

The combined (synergistic) action of vitamin E and selenium enhances the antioxidant properties of the drug, affects the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.

Administration of the drug leads to a rapid increase in the level of vitamin E and selenium in the blood and other tissues of the body.

Application:

For the prevention and treatment of animals and poultry with disorders of reproductive function and fetal development, white muscle disease, traumatic myositis and cardiopathy, toxic liver dystrophy, growth retardation and insufficient growth, infectious and invasive diseases, preventive vaccinations and deworming, poisoning with nitrites, heavy metals and mycotoxins, stressful situations; to stimulate productivity, growth and development of young animals.

Dosage:

• Cattle, goats, sheep – 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight intramuscularly or subcutaneously; cows 60 days before calving – 15 ml of the drug per head twice with an interval of 10-14 days.
• Horses – 1 ml of the drug per 50 kg of body weight intramuscularly.
• Calves, lambs, goats – 0.2-0.3 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight intramuscularly or subcutaneously; orally in a mixture with water or food at a dose of 0.5 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight.
• Dogs, cats, fur animals – 0.04 ml of the drug per 1 kg of body weight intramuscularly or subcutaneously; orally in a mixture with water or food at a dose of 0.1 ml of the drug per 1 kg of body weight.

For preventive purposes, the drug is administered 1 time in 2-4 months, for therapeutic purposes – 2-3 times with an interval of 7-10 days in the same doses, if necessary, the therapeutic dose can be increased, but not more than: for cattle – 15 ml, horses – 20 ml, sheep, goats, pigs – 5 ml per head.

Before administering the drug (in small doses), it can be diluted with sterile water or physiological saline and thoroughly mixed.

Poultry – at the rate of 1-2 ml of the drug per 1 liter of water used during the day:

• chicks from the first day of life – once every 2-3 weeks for preventive purposes;
• young and adult birds – once a month for preventive purposes, for therapeutic purposes – 2-3 times with an interval of 1-2 weeks.

Contraindication:

Increased sensitivity of animals to selenium or excessive content of selenium in the body and feed (alkaline disease).
