Description:
Dark brown liquid with a specific odor.

Structure:
1 ml of the drug contains active ingredients (mg):

crystalline iodine – 50;

potassium iodide – 20.

Excipients: R-709 solvent, purified water.

Pharmacological properties:
The drug has a wide spectrum of antibacterial action against Staphylococcus spp. Streptococcus spp., Neisseria spp. Escherichia coli Shigella spp. Klebsiella spp. Proteus spp. Chlamydia, non-spore-forming anaerobes, herpes viruses and chickenpox (Herpesviridae).

Iodine enters the bacterial cell by diffusion, disrupting the vital reactions of protoplasm, leading to its death. At the site of application, the vessels expand, their walls swell, become easily permeable.

Iodine is excreted from the body through the kidneys, bronchi, salivary and mammary glands, which are irritated, which enhances their functions.

Application:
The drug is used externally to disinfect the operating field and the surgeon’s hands; accelerating the healing of fresh wounds with gangrenous biting midges, trichophytosis, dermatomycosis, phlegmon, dermatitis; and also as a hemostatic, antimicrobial agent.

Dosage:
The drug is applied by lubricating the affected skin areas and 2-4 cm around them. The procedure is repeated 2-3 times a day until the desired clinical effect is achieved.

Contraindications:
Do not use on animals sensitive to the drug or its components.

Side effect:
With prolonged use, skin irritation, dryness and peeling of the epidermis are possible, which disappears after the drug is discontinued.

Caveats:
The drug is incompatible with alkaline solutions of iron and mercury salts, starch, tannins, essential oils.
