Thioprotectin solution for injection 2.5%, 2 ml, No. 10
Description
Colorless or slightly yellowish liquid.
Structure

morpholinium salt of thiazoic acid in terms of 100% substance 0.025 g.
Excipient: water for injection.
Pharmacological properties
ATC-vet classification code: QA05 Veterinary drugs that are used for pathology of the liver and biliary tract. QC01 Veterinary drugs used in cardiology.
The pharmacological effect is due to antioxidant, membrane stabilizing, anti-ischemic and immunomodulatory properties. Prevents the death of hepatocytes, reduces the degree of fatty infiltration and the spread of centrilobular necrosis of the liver, promotes the processes of reparative regeneration of hepatocytes, normalizes protein, carbohydrate, lipid and pigment metabolism in them. Increases the rate of synthesis and secretion of bile, normalizes its chemical composition.
Thioprotectin enhances the compensatory activation of anaerobic glycolysis and activates oxidation processes in the Krebs cycle while maintaining the intracellular ATP fund. The drug activates the antioxidant system and inhibits the processes of lipid oxidation in the ischemic areas of the myocardium, reduces the sensitivity of the myocardium to catecholamines, prevents progressive suppression of the contractile function of the heart, stabilizes and reduces, respectively, the zones of necrosis and myocardial ischemia. Improves the rheological properties of blood by activating the fibrinolytic blood system.
Application
For the treatment of dogs and cats with hepatitis of various etiology, cholecystitis, myocarditis, cardiomyopathy with metabolic disorders, as an additional remedy for ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, with postoperative complications.
Dosage
The drug is administered intravenously, intramuscularly in doses:
Animal species | Body mass | Dosage per animal, route of administration |
Dogs | up to 5 kg. | 2 times a day, 0.5 ml intramuscularly or 1 time a day, 1 ml slowly intravenously |
Dogs | 5 – 10 kg. | 2 times a day, 1 ml intramuscularly or 1 time a day, 2 ml slowly intravenously |

Cats | 3 kg. and more | 2 times a day, 1 ml intramuscularly or 1 time a day, 2 ml slowly intravenously |
The drug is administered intravenously slowly at a rate of 2 ml / min. or drip at a rate of 20-30 drops per minute. The dose of thioprotectin, 2.5% solution for injection must be dissolved in 15-150 ml of 0.9% sodium chloride solution, in accordance with the body weight of the animal.
In chronic hepatitis, cholecystitis, cardiomyopathy, myocarditis and coronary heart disease, after a 5-day course of injections, thioprotectin is prescribed, tablets for 14 days, and in the postoperative period – within 20 days.
