Indications

Gentamicin Sulfate Solution is recommended for the control of bacterial infections of the uterus (metritis) in horses and as an aid in improving conception in mares with uterine infections caused by bacteria sensitive to gentamicin.

Bacteriologic studies should be conducted to identify the causative organism and to determine its sensitivity to gentamicin sulfate. Sensitivity discs of the drug are available for this purpose.

Composition
1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient: gentamicin sulfate – 100 mg.

Pharmacological properties
Gentamicin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that acts bactericidal against some gram-positive and most gram-negative bacteria, such as E. coli, Salmonella, Shigella, Enterobacner aerogenes, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Mycoplasma.

Application
Prevention and treatment of colibacillosis, salmonellosis, respiratory and genitourinary diseases of bacterial ethology, septicemia in cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs and cats.

Dosage
Intramuscularly at a dose of 4 ml per 100 kg of live weight once a day for 3-5 days. In severe cases, the dose is divided in half and administered 2 times a day.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to gentamicin. Do not administer the drug to animals with impaired renal function and do not use it simultaneously with aminoglycoside and nephrotoxic antibiotics.

Warning
The slaughter of animals for meat and the use of milk for human consumption is allowed, respectively, 7 and 3 days after the last administration of the drug. Until the specified time, meat and milk are fed to unproductive animals or disposed of.
