Description:

Clear colorless or yellowish liquid.

Compound:

1 ml of the drug contains active ingredients:

• glucose monohydrate – 50 mg;
• ascorbic acid – 10 mg.

Excipients: sodium chloride, water for injection.

Pharmacological properties:

The drug contributes to the normalization of metabolism, increases the body’s resistance to infections, reduces vascular permeability, and has an antitoxic effect.

Glucose is a source of easily digestible energy and a stimulant for muscle work. Isotonic glucose solution activates the functions of all body cells, reduces acidity, especially during starvation and impaired fat metabolism; normalizes osmotic pressure in the cells and tissues of the animal body. Glucose in organs and tissues is phosphorylated, turning into glucose-6-phosphate, which activates the body’s metabolism. The prototoxic effect of glucose is associated with its ability to form complex, less toxic compounds with poisons and toxins, and an increase in diuresis contributes to their removal from the body. Glucose stores are stored in tissue cells in the form of glycogen.

Ascorbic acid (vitamin C) in animals regulates redox processes, carbohydrate metabolism, blood clotting, tissue regeneration, improves the absorption of iron and calcium, reduces the need for vitamins B1, B2, A, E, folic acid, pantothenic acid; has pronounced antioxidant properties, activates proteolytic enzymes, promotes the accumulation of glycogen in the liver.

Application:

With diseases of various etiologies, stress, during the recovery period, after illnesses, dehydration, diarrhea and vomiting, hepatitis, mycotoxicosis, as well as acetonemia and other metabolic disorders; to increase stability during physical exertion, pregnancy and lactation; weakened and emaciated animals.

Dosage:

Enter parenterally once a day in doses per head:

• Cattle – 400-600 ml of the drug intravenously slowly;
• calves – 120-400 ml of the drug intravenously slowly, subcutaneously;
• pigs – 100-200 ml of the drug intramuscularly;
• piglets – 20-30 ml of the drug intramuscularly, subcutaneously;
• sheep, goats – 100-200 ml of the drug intravenously slowly, subcutaneously;
• horses – 400-800 ml of the drug intravenously slowly;
• dogs – 20-100 ml of the drug intravenously slowly, subcutaneously;
• cats, rabbits – 10-30 ml of the drug intramuscularly, subcutaneously.

For therapeutic purposes, the drug is administered 2-3 times with an interval of 1-3 days, horses and dogs – before intensive work.

When administered intramuscularly and subcutaneously, the dose of the drug is recommended to be divided into parts and injected into different places.

Before injection, the drug is recommended to warm up to the body temperature of the animal.

Contraindications:

Do not use in hyperglycemia.

Caveats:

With the introduction of the drug in the maximum dose, the development of hyperhydration with a slight violation of water-salt homeostasis is possible (especially in malnourished animals).

Glucose solution is incompatible with hexamethylenetetramine (urotropine), alkaloid solutions (causes their decomposition), with general anesthetics (decrease in their activity).

Glucose weakens the action of analgesic, adrenomimetic agents, inactivates the action of streptomycin, and reduces the effectiveness of nystatin.

Glucose solution prolongs the action of narcotic drugs, adrenaline, penicillin.
