Pharmacodynamics
Advocate® for Dogs is a topical endoectoparasiticide. The pharmacological properties of the drug are due to the properties of the active substances.
Імідаклоприд, l-(6-Chloro-3-pyridylmethyl)-N-nitro-imidazolidin-2-ylideneamine
ectoparasiticide belonging to the group of chloronicotinyl compounds. It has a high affinity for nicotinic acetylcholine receptors in postsynaptic areas of the central nervous system. It binds to the nicotinergic receptor of the ectoparasite, located on the postsynaptic neuron, interrupts the transmission of nerve impulses, which in turn leads to paralysis and death of the parasite.
Weak interaction of imidacloprid with mammalian nicotinic receptors causes a low level of its penetration through the blood-brain barrier, so imidacloprid has virtually no effect on the mammalian CNS.
Moxidectin, 23- (O-methyloxime) -F28249 alpha – belongs to the second generation of macrocyclic lactones in the group of milbemycins. It is a parasiticide that acts against many endo- and ectoparasites. Moxidectin is active against larvae (stages L3, L4) Dirofllaria immitis. It is also active against gastrointestinal nematodes. Moxidectin interacts with gamma-aminobutyric acid and glutaric chlorine channels of parasites. This leads to the opening of chlorine tubules in the postsynaptic space. An increase in the number of chlorine ions leads to an irreversible decrease in muscle activity, paralysis and death of parasites.
Pharmacokinetic features
After application of the drug to the skin of the animal, imidacloprid spreads rapidly on the skin surface within one day. Traces of imidacloprid remain on the skin throughout the treatment period.
Moxidectin is absorbed through the skin, reaching its maximum plasma concentration between 4 and 9 days after treatment, and is slowly excreted from plasma within a month.
Application
Prevention and treatment of dogs with mixed parasitic infestations.

Treatment and prevention of siphonopterosis.
A single treatment with the drug prevents flea infestation for 4 weeks, but the larvae in the environment can appear up to 6 weeks and longer depending on climatic conditions. Therefore, it is advisable to combine the treatment of animals with Advokat® for dogs with the treatment of animal habitats (environment) with other insecticides-acaricides in order to interrupt the life cycle of fleas.
In the treatment of allergic flea dermatitis, the drug is recommended to be used monthly.
Treatment of otodectosis.
One-time treatment with the drug. On the recommendation of a veterinarian, re-treatment is possible in 30 days. Do not apply directly to the ear canal.
Treatment of scabies (caused by Sarcoptes scabiei vag. Canis)
Treatment is carried out twice (1 dose listed in the table) with an interval of 4 weeks.
Treatment of demodectic mange (caused by Demodex canis)
Advocate® for dogs against Demodex canis is applied every 4 weeks (applied to the skin) for 2-4 months. In severe cases, the drug is used 2-4 times with an interval of 1 time per week. In all cases, treatment is continued until the results of 2 consecutive monthly laboratory tests are negative (skin scrapings). In cases when, after treatment with Advokat® for dogs for 2 months, the animal does not improve, the drug is discontinued and alternative treatment is prescribed on the recommendation of a veterinarian.
Since demodicosis in dogs is often complicated by pyoderma, dermatomycoses need to conduct a comprehensive treatment aimed at normalizing skin function, hormonal status, improving hair growth, strengthening immune responses.
Prevention of heartworm disease
Treatment of animals with Advokat® for dogs begins one month before the attack of blood-sucking insects and is stopped 2 months after its completion.

Treatment of Crenosoma vulpis
One-time processing.
Nematodes, stomatodes. hookworm hairheads
The drug is used monthly for the prevention of nematodes.
Treatment of microfilariae (D. immitis)
The drug is used for two months in a row.
Treatment of microfilariae (D. repens)
The drug is used for four months in a row.
Prevention of Spirocercosis (Spirocerca and Ari)
The drug is used monthly to prevent spirocercosis.
