Pharmacological properties

Chlortetracycline – an antibiotic of tetracycline that inhibits the growth and development of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms  ( Staphylococcus spp .,  Streptococcus spp .,  Pasteurella spp .,  Proteus spp ., Pseudomonas spp .,  Mycoplasma spp .,  Campylobacter spp ., Sarcina lutea ,  Bacillus subtilis ,  Hemophilus influenzae , Klebsiella pneumoniae ,  Leptospira spp .,  Brucella              spp., Bordetella bronchiseptica, Chlamydia spp., Rickettsia spp.,Salmonella spp., E. coli, Listeria monocytogenes).

Chlortetracycline acts bacteriostatically by inhibiting bacterial proteosynthesis. It enters the bacterial cell in an energetically dependent way, in the cytoplasm it connects with 30 S ribosomal subunits at the aminoacyl-mRNA binding site and with the complex formed by ribosomal subunits at the aminoacyl-t-RNA binding site and with the complex , formed by the ribosome and t-RNA. This connection limits the access of new amino acids to the newly formed peptide chain. As a result of this process, the synthesis of bacterial proteins is disrupted.

Application

Calves (up to 3 months old), piglets (up to 3 months old), fur animals (rabbits, otters, nutria, minks, foxes, polar foxes): treatment of animals with pasteurellosis, colibacillosis, salmonellosis, listeriosis, leptospirosis, septicemia, gastritis , enteritis, bronchitis, pneumonia, pleuropneumonia caused by microorganisms sensitive to chlortetracycline.

Young poultry (chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks): treatment of poultry suffering from pasteurellosis, salmonellosis, colisepticemia caused by microorganisms sensitive to chlortetracycline.

Dosage

Orally with food, water or milk in the doses listed in the table:

The drug is used in a group method with food, milk or water once a day for 5-7 days until complete disappearance of symptoms.

Contraindication

Do not use in animals and birds with individual hypersensitivity to chlortetracycline, as well as liver and kidney diseases. Do not use in laying hens whose eggs are intended for human consumption.

Do not use in ruminants with functionally developed pancreas. Interaction with polyvalent cations is undesirable. Do not use together with beta-lactam antibiotics, cephalosporins and aminoglycosides.

Reservation

Slaughter of animals and poultry for meat is allowed 6 days after the last application of the drug. The obtained meat is disposed of or fed to unproductive animals by this deadline, depending on the conclusion of the veterinarian.
