Light yellow powder, readily soluble in water.
The composition of
1 g of the preparation contains the active ingredients: colistin sulfate – 500,000 MO, oxytetracycline hydrochloride – 35 mg, trimethoprim – 90 mg.
Pharmacological properties
Brovafom® new is a complex preparation, the constituent components of which, acting synergistically, provide a wide spectrum of antimicrobial action.
Oxytetracycline is a bacteriostatic antibiotic. The drug has a wide spectrum of action on gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms: Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp., Brucella spp., Haemophilus spp., E. coli, Pasteurella spp., Klebsiella spp., Erysipelothobacterium spp. , Salmonella spp., As well as parasitic protozoa (Protozoa), mycoplasma (Mycoplasma spp.), Rickettsia (Rickettsia spp.) And chlamydia (Chlamydia). The mechanism of action of oxytetracycline lies in the violation of protein synthesis during its interaction with ribosomes, as well as in a decrease in the permeability of the cytoplasmic membrane of sensitive microorganisms.
Colistin is an antibiotic from the polymyxin group that has a bactericidal effect on gram-negative microorganisms (for example, E. coli, Salmonella spp., Pasteurella spp., Haemophilus spp., Bordetellа spp.). The mechanism of action of colistin is to disrupt the integrity of the cytoplasmic membrane of microorganisms. Colistin interacts with phospholipids, destroying the structure of the cell membrane. The permeability of the bacterial membrane changes immediately after contact with the drug. Colistin binds phospholipid A of cell membranes, neutralizing the biological effect of bacterial endotoxin.
Trimethoprim is a chemotherapeutic drug that has a bactericidal effect against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp. And others) and gram-negative (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Klebs Pasiella spp., Proteureus spp., ., Bordetella spp., Etc.) of microorganisms. It inhibits bacterial reductase, which converts dehydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and nucleic acids. Thanks to this, trimethoprim blocks one of the main metabolic processes of bacteria on the pathway of protein synthesis.
Application of the
Pig: treatment of animals suffering from dysentery, colibacillosis, pasteurellosis, salmonellosis. And also in diseases of the digestive tract and respiratory organs caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline, colistin and trimethoprim.
Calves and lambs (up to six weeks of age), rabbits: treatment of animals with enteritis. And also for diseases of the respiratory system caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline, colistin and trimethoprim.
Poultry (chickens, turkeys, pheasants, geese, ducks): treatment of poultry sick with mycoplasmosis, colibacillosis, pasteurellosis. And also in diseases of the respiratory system caused by microorganisms sensitive to oxytetracycline, colistin and trimethoprim.
Dosing
Oral dose:
pigs, poultry (by group method): 1 kg of the drug per 1000 l of drinking water, or 1.5–2 kg of the drug per ton of feed for 3-5 days;
rabbits: 1-1.5 g of the drug per liter of drinking water for 3-5 days;
calves and lambs (up to six weeks old), piglets (individually): 0.5 g of the drug per 10 kg of body weight 2 times a day for 5-7 days.
Contraindications
Do not use the drug in case of hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. It is forbidden to use for the treatment of laying hens, the eggs of which are used for human food.
Precautions
Slaughter for meat of animals (calves, lambs, pigs, rabbits) is allowed 10 days after the last use of the drug, poultry – after 7 days. The meat obtained before the specified period is disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the conclusion of a veterinary doctor.
