Tablets for oral administration. The drug in appearance is a film-coated biconvex, oval tablets from white to almost white with a line on one side.

Compound

Dehinel® tablets for cats as active ingredients in one tablet contain pyrantel embonate – 230 mg and praziquantel – 20 mg, as well as auxiliary substances: corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose (E460), polyvidone K25, magnesium stearate (E572), colloidal anhydrous quartz , hypromellose, polyethylene glycol 4000, titanium dioxide (E171).

Pharmacological properties

Dehinel® tablets for cats belongs to the group of combined anthelmintic drugs.

Dehinel® tablets for cats has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic action on round and tapeworms parasitizing in cats, including Toxosaga cati (syn.mystax), Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma tubaeforme, Ancylostoma brazilinium Tailliense, Echinocoecus Hydatiidular taeniaeformis, Mesocestoides spp., Joyeuxiella pasqualei.

The mechanism of action of praziquantel, which is part of the drug, is depolarization of neuromuscular ganglion blockers, impaired glucose transport and microturbular function in cestodes, which leads to impaired muscle innervation, paralysis and death of the parasite. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the intestine; it is distributed in internal organs and tissues; excreted in the urine mainly in a metabolized form.

Pyrantel embonate has a pronounced nematodicidal effect, causing an increase in the permeability of cell membranes, irreversible paralysis and muscle contracture in nematodes, which leads to the death of the parasite and promotes its elimination from the gastrointestinal tract. Pirantel embonate is partially absorbed in the intestine, rapidly metabolized and excreted from the body mainly in feces.

According to the degree of effect on the body, the drug belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 in accordance with GOST 12.1.007-76), in the recommended doses it does not have an embryotoxic effect. teratogenic and sensitizing action. Well tolerated by cats of different breeds and ages.

Application

Dehinel® tablets for cats are prescribed to cats with therapeutic and prophylactic purposes for nematodes (toxocariasis, toxascariasis, ankylostomiasis) and cestodiasis (teniidosis, dipylidiosis, echinococcosis, mesocestomiasis).

Dosage

Dehinel® tablets for cats are prescribed for cats at a dose of 1 tablet per 4 kg of animal weight (5 mg of praziquantel and 57.5 mg of pyrantel embonate per 1 kg of animal weight).

Application features

Deworming cats with Dehinel® tablets for cats is carried out from 3 weeks of age.

The drug is administered to animals individually once, in the morning feeding with a small amount of food. A preliminary fasting diet and the use of laxatives before deworming are not required.

For therapeutic purposes, animals are deworming according to indications, for prophylactic purposes – on a quarterly basis at the above dose.

Symptoms arising from an overdose of the drug have not been established. With a significant overdose, there may be an upset of the gastrointestinal tract, vomiting.

The peculiarities of the action of the drug during the first administration or when it is canceled have not been identified.

In case of non-observance of the established period of repeated treatments, the use of the drug should be resumed in the same dose according to the same scheme.

It is not recommended to use Dehinel® tablets for cats with medications containing piperazine, due to the possible decrease in effectiveness.

Contraindications

A contraindication to the use of Dehinel® tablets for cats is the individual hypersensitivity of the animal to the components of the drug (including a history). Kittens weighing less than 1 kg are not subject to deworming.

The drug should not be used by pregnant females due to the lack of information about the effect of the drug on this group of animals. The drug is also not used for deworming kittens up to three weeks of age, since they do not detect tapeworm infestations.

Dehinel® tablets for cats are not intended for use in productive animals.

Side effects

As a rule, there are no side effects and complications when using Dehinel® tablets for cats in accordance with this instruction. With increased individual sensitivity of the animal to the active components of the drug, increased salivation, diarrhea or vomiting are possible. These symptoms are short-term, spontaneously disappear and do not require the use of drugs.
