MILBEMAX (praziquantel, milbemycinoxime) anthelmintic for cats 2 tablets

Milbemax for cats is a combined anthelmintic drug that acts on both nematodes and cestodicide.

Milbemycin oxime in the preparation is active against larvae and imago of nematodes, which parasitize in the gastrointestinal tract of cats.

Under its action, the permeability of cell membranes for chlorine ions increases, which ultimately leads to paralysis and death of the parasite.

Praziquantel causes membrane depolarization, destruction of tegument and muscle contraction, which leads to the death of the parasite. The action of the drug begins within 2 to 4 hours after taking it.

It is excreted mainly in the urine within two days. According to the degree of impact on the body, Milbemax is classified as a moderately hazardous substance.

In therapeutic and prophylactic doses, they do not have a sensitizing, teratogenic and embryotoxic effect, however, they are toxic to fish.

One tablet (weighing 132.5 g) contains active ingredients:

praziquantel 40 mg
milbemycinoxime 16 mg

Auxiliary components: microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, povidone, lactose monohydrate, colloidal silicon and magnesium stearate.

Milbemax is prescribed for treatment, deworming and prophylaxis for nematodes, cestodes and mixed nematodes-cestodes, which are caused by the following types of helminths:

•  Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp.
•  Ancylostoma caninum, Toxocara cati.
• prevention of dirofilariasis (Dirofilaria immitis) with a single use of the drug against cestodes.

Recommended dosage: 2 mg of milbemycinoxime and 5 mg of praziquantel per kg of body weight, once orally, individually in the morning feeding with a small amount of food or injected by force on the root of the tongue after feeding.

Depending on the body weight of the animals, the dosage is recommended:

No prior fasting diet and laxatives are required.

Preventive deworming is recommended on a quarterly basis, as well as before vaccination and mating.

Milbemax can be included in the program for the prevention of dirofilariasis while using the drug against cestodes.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the drug.
Do not use in sick, emaciated or weakened animals.
do not use the drug in cats weighing less than 2 kg.
Do not administer to animals with impaired renal and liver function.
