  • L-arginine – 40.0 mg;
  • L-ornithine – 15.0 mg;
  • L-citrulline – 10.0 mg.

Excipients: betaine hydrochloride, sorbitol, lidocaine hydrochloride, methylparaben, propylparaben, water for injection.

Pharmacological properties

ATC-vet classification code QA05 – veterinary drugs used in liver and biliary tract pathologies.

The drug Hepaxin is a hepatoprotector that has the combined pharmacological properties of individual components with a pronounced stimulating, protective and choleretic effect on the liver, improving its function and metabolism by optimizing basic physiological processes.

L-arginine – stimulates cellular metabolism, promotes the neutralization and excretion of ammonia, regulates blood sugar levels and reduces lactic acidosis caused by muscle strain, activates the system of nitrogen-containing enzymes, synthesizes the nitroso group, ensuring the necessary tone of the arteries.

L-ornithine – participates in the ornithine cycle of Krebs urogenesis (formation of urea from ammonia), reduces the level of ammonia in the body, which is increased in liver diseases, promotes the synthesis of insulin and somatotropin, and activates protein metabolism.

L-citrulline is an amino acid that participates in the urea cycle and helps to eliminate it from the body.

Betaine is a natural source of methyl groups and a hepatoprotector that positively affects metabolism and improves the condition of the intestinal epithelium, ensures more complete absorption of dietary energy, increases resistance to stress, has a choleretic and lipotropic effect, activates metabolic methylation in the liver and the synthesis of phospholipids of cell membranes.

Sorbitol is an energy substance that accumulates in the liver in the form of glycogen, partially compensates for the negative energy balance, and has a pronounced diuretic effect.

The use of the drug leads to increased endurance, improved heart function, reduced subcutaneous fat, increased muscle mass by accelerating metabolic processes in cells, improved penetration of vitamins and minerals into cells and excretion of decay products. The drug reduces the risk of fatty liver disease, nephrosis, myocarditis, prevents stress (thermal, transport, etc.), increases appetite and feed absorption, improves digestion and absorption of fats, which is especially important during the period of intensive growth of animals.

The drug is rapidly absorbed from the site of administration, passes the histohematological barriers and is distributed in all organs and tissues. It is partially utilized in metabolic processes, the rest is excreted by the kidneys.

The drug belongs to low-hazard substances in terms of the degree of impact on the body; in therapeutic doses it does not have embryotoxic, teratogenic, carcinogenic, or sensitizing effects.

Indications for use

It is used in animals alone or as part of complex therapy for acute and chronic liver diseases of various etiologies, to normalize the function and regeneration of liver cells after endo- and exotoxicosis, somatic or infectious diseases, to reduce the hepatotoxic effect of drugs, accelerate liver recovery during periods of intense overload, normalize metabolism, increase overall resistance and productivity, prevention and treatment during stressful periods, and accelerate growth during animal fattening.

Method of administration and doses

The drug is administered to the animal deeply intramuscularly or slowly intravenously in doses:
