Lidocaine Hydrochloride Injection 20mg – 100 ml (Anesthetic)
Composition
1 ml of the drug contains:
lidocaine hydrochloride – 20 mg
Description
The liquid is colorless, and transparent.
Pharmacological properties
Lidocaine hydrochloride – a derivative of acetanilide, belongs to the group of aminoamide agents for local anesthesia, which deprives a limited area of the body from pain sensitivity. The action consists of stabilizing the neuronal membrane, reducing its permeability to sodium ions, which prevents the conduction of impulses along the nerve fibers. Antagonism with calcium ions is possible. It is rapidly hydrolyzed in a weakly alkaline environment of tissues and after a short latency period, it acts for 60-90 minutes. The anesthetic effect is 2-6 times stronger than procaine but decreases with tissue acidosis. Effective for all types of local anesthesia, has moderate vasodilatory and sedative properties.
When administered intramuscularly, the maximum concentration in the blood is reached in 5-15 minutes, the anesthetic effect begins in 2-5 minutes and lasts about 90 minutes. When applied topically, the solution is absorbed for 7-20 minutes, depending on the dose and place of application. In blood plasma, it binds to proteins by 50-80%, is metabolized in the liver, and excreted after 4-5 hours by the kidneys, mainly in the form of metabolites.
Method of application and dosage
The drug is used in the form of solutions of 0.25, 0.5 and 1%, for the preparation of which in the syringe to one part of the drug, respectively, select 7, 3 or 1 part of water for injection.
The maximum permissible dose of the active substance per 1 kg of body weight is: for cats – 2 mg, for horses, pigs under 4 weeks, dogs – 4 mg.
Doses of the drug and the concentration of lidocaine hydrochloride solution for different purposes are listed in the table.
Application | The drug solution,% | Dose, ml / 1 kg of body weight | |

Infiltration anesthesia, medical blockade | 0.25 | 0.8-1.6 | 0.6-0.8 |
0.5 | 0.4-0.8 | 0.3-0.4 | |

To prolong the effect of the anesthetic for every 10 ml of lidocaine hydrochloride solution add 0.1 ml of 0.1% adrenaline solution.

Reservation
Use with caution in animals with liver disease, congestive heart failure, shock and hypovolemia with severe respiratory depression, hypoxia, during lactation. In the latter case, the drug is used only when the expected benefit to the female outweighs the potential risk to the young.
Do not mix with other drugs in one syringe. Do not combine with barbiturates, curare-like drugs, with drugs that depress or excite the CNS.
When used in therapeutic doses, no side effects are observed, but from the nervous system and senses may be depression or agitation, disorientation, vomiting, sweating, visual disturbances, tremor, convulsions, respiratory depression, apnea. After administration of large doses of the drug may decrease blood pressure, bradycardia, arrhythmia, shock, cardiac arrest, and sometimes allergic reactions.
When a needle enters a vessel and lidocaine enters the blood, collapse may occur. In this case, it is necessary to use vasoconstrictors and cardiac drugs.
In case of overdose, drowsiness, visual disturbances, vomiting, lowering of blood pressure, muscle tremors are possible. In the case of rapid administration, there is hypotension, vascular collapse, convulsions, depression of the respiratory center. Allergic reactions with the onset of anaphylactic shock are possible. With a decrease in heart rate is allowed to enter 0.5-1 mg of atropine sulfate.
Indications
Used for horses, pigs up to 4 weeks of age, dogs, cats for all types of local anesthesia (superficial, infiltrative, conductive, epidural, spinal, intra-articular), therapeutic blockades of peripheral nerves, nerve plexuses in pain and acute inflammation.
Contraindications
Do not administer to animals with hypersensitivity to lidocaine and other amide drugs, during pregnancy, with severe bleeding or infection of possible injection sites, diseases of the cardiovascular system, liver dysfunction accompanied by a decrease in hepatic blood flow.
