Norsulfazole powder
Composition and form of release : Powder white or whitish with a slightly yellowish tinge, odorless, almost tasteless.
Pharmacological action : Norsulfazole has high antimicrobial activity against streptococci, meningococci, pneumococci, gonococci, Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pasteurella and other microorganisms. Norsulfazole is easily absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and is rapidly excreted from the body. The therapeutic level is maintained in the blood for 6-12 hours. Excreted mainly in the urine.
Indications : Catarrhal bronchopneumonia, pleurisy, streptococcal and staphylococcal sepsis, gastroenteritis, diplococcal septicemia of calves and other bacterial infections of animals and birds, the causative agents of which are sensitive to norsulfazole.
Dosage and method of application : The drug is administered orally. Set 2-3 times a day per head in the following doses: horses and cattle – 10 – 25 g; sheep and pigs – 2 – 5 g; chickens – 0.5 m The initial dose should be twice the recommended. Treatment is continued for 3-6 days. To increase the therapeutic effect, it is advisable to use norsulfazole tablets in combination with antibiotics and iodine.
Side effect : In rare cases, vomiting, diarrhea. Prolonged treatment with high doses can cause dermatitis, disorders of the nervous and cardiovascular systems.
Contraindications : Diseases of the hematopoietic system, liver and kidneys.
Special instructions : Slaughter of animals and poultry for meat is allowed 5 days after discontinuation of the drug. In the case of forced slaughter of the previously specified period, the meat is used for feeding carnivores or the production of meat and bone meal. Milk obtained from animals during treatment and until 2 days after the last use of the drug is prohibited for food purposes. Such milk after heat treatment can be fed to animals.
