Gentapharm 4% Injection (gentamicin sulfate 40 mg)

Description:

Clear colorless or slightly yellowish liquid.

Storage:

1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:

gentamicin sulfate – 40 mg.

Excipients: edetate disodium, sodium metabisulfite, benzyl alcohol, water for injections.

Pharmacological power:

Gentamicin belongs to the group of aminoglycosides. It binds to the 30S ribosome subunit and disrupts protein synthesis, preventing the formation of a complex of transport and information RNA, resulting in erroneous reading of the genetic code and the formation of non-functional proteins. It has a bactericidal effect – in high concentrations reduces the barrier functions of cell membranes and causes the death of microorganisms. Gentamicin is active against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms: Escherichia coli, Salmonella spp., Shigella spp., Enterobacter aerogenes, Klebsiella spp., Some species of Proteus spp. and Serratia spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Pasteurella multocida, Staphylococcus aureus, Serpulina hyodysenteriae, Mycoplasma spp.

Resistance of microorganisms to gentamicin develops slowly, but strains resistant to neomycin and kanamycin may also be resistant to gentamicin (incomplete cross-resistance). Does not affect fungi, viruses, protozoa.

Application:

Treatment of animals and poultry with septicemia, arthritis, as well as diseases of the digestive tract (gastritis, enteritis, peritonitis), respiratory system (tonsillitis, tracheitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia) and genitourinary system (nephritis, pyelitis, pyelonephritis, urethra) urocystitis, metritis, mastitis), skin (dermatitis) caused by gentamicin-sensitive microorganisms.

Dosage:

Intramuscularly 2 times a day with an interval of 10-12 hours for 5-7 days in the following doses:

• cattle – 8 ml of the drug per 100 kg of body weight;
• calves, sheep, goats, pigs – 1 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight;
• horses – 5 ml of the drug per 100 kg of body weight;
• dogs, cats – 0.6 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight;
• poultry (chickens, turkeys, geese, ducks) – 0.2-0.5 ml of the drug per head;
• ornamental rodents – 0.1-0.2 ml of the drug per head;
• ornamental birds – 0.05-0.1 ml of the drug per head.

Newborn animals and birds are given half the recommended dose during the first days of life.

Contraindication:

Hypersensitivity to gentamicin.

Do not use in animals and birds with impaired renal function, hearing and balance. Do not use concomitantly with other aminoglycoside antibiotics and antibiotics that have nephrotoxic effects (polymyxin B, colistin, amphotericin, chloramphenicol, cephalosporins, erythromycin), as well as with muscle relaxants and anesthetics, sulfonamides, sulfonamides, sulfanilamides .

Reservation:

Slaughter of animals for meat and consumption of milk for human consumption is allowed in 7 and 3 days, respectively, after the last use of the drug. Meat and milk obtained before this date are disposed of or fed to unproductive animals, depending on the opinion of the veterinarian.

Pregnant and lactating animals are given the drug in cases of emergency.

Long-term treatment with the drug can lead to nephrotoxic and ototoxic effects.

Ampoules from glass on 1, 2 ml, bottles from glass closed by a rubber stopper under aluminum run-in on 10, 50, 100 ml.

Storage:

Dry dark place inaccessible to children at a temperature of 5 to 25 ° C.

Shelf life:

2 years. After the first withdrawal from the vial, the drug should be used within 5 days, provided it is stored in a dark place at a temperature of 5 to 15 ° C.
