Propalin 100ml (phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride)

Propalin 100ml. transparent syrup is used to treat the genitourinary system in dogs, namely, to increase the tone of the urethra. There is a syringe in the package for more accurate dosage. Propalin is used during feeding, mixing the drug with the feed. As the main active ingredient in 1 ml. 5% solution contains 50 mg. phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride, an additional component – sorbitol syrup.

The main active ingredient phenylpropanolamine hydrochloride is a synthetic sympathomimetic that acts on alpha and beta-adrenergic receptors, and also increases the release of norepinephrine from the depot. It directly affects the muscles of the lower urinary tract. When administered orally, propalin is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract. It is excreted from the body in the urine in unchanged form or in the form of inactive metabolites. The peak concentration is reached after 1 – 2 hours.

Propalin is only indicated for dogs with urinary incontinence associated with functional impairment of the urethral sphincter.

Dosage: 3 drops per 4 kg are prescribed. animal weight 2 times a day or 1 drop per 2 kg. weight 3 times a day. Dogs weighing over 25 kg. the recommended dose is 0.5 ml. by 25 kg. weight 3 times a day or 0.75 ml per 25 kg. 2 times a day. Propalin can be used without restriction.

The drug is not recommended for use in case of hypersensitivity to the components of Propalin, as well as in parallel with antidepressants and other sympathomimetics. It is forbidden to use for puppies and lactating bitches.

Side effects are not observed at the correct dosage. Rarely, is an allergic reaction to the components of the drug.
