Tromexin (sulfamethoxypyridazine, trimethoprim, tetracycline hydrochloride, bromhexine hydrochloride)
Composition and form of release
Complex antibacterial drug, 1 gram of which contains as active ingredients:
- sulfamethoxypyridazine – 200 mg;
- trimethoprim – 40 mg;
- tetracycline hydrochloride – 110 mg;
- bromhexine hydrochloride – 0.13 mg.
In appearance it is a light yellow powder.
pharmachologic effect
Sulfamethoxypyridazine with trimethoprim, which are part of the drug, in association have a broad spectrum of action against microorganisms, preventing the synthesis of tetrahydrofolic acid in a bacterial cell.
The action of tetracycline is to disrupt the protein synthesis of bacteria at the level of the ribosomes. The mechanism of action of bromhexine is the hydrolysis of mucoproteins, the main components of the secretion of the respiratory tract.
Bromhexine helps to relieve hyperemia of the mucous membranes and improve ventilation.
Tromexin is effective for infections caused by: E. coli, Clostridium spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus mirabilis, Proteus spp., Pasteurella spp., Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Enterococcus, Klebsiella spp., Bordetella spp., Neisseria spp.
The therapeutic concentration is reached in the blood 1-2 hours after oral administration of thromexin and is maintained for 12 hours. The maximum concentration in the blood is reached 8 hours after administration. The active substances of thromexin and their metabolites are excreted from the body mainly with urine and bile.
Indications
- poultry with enteritis of bacterial etiology, salmonellosis, colibacillosis, with bacterial infections against the background of viral pathology;
- cattle with pasteurellosis, enteritis, respiratory diseases;
- pigs with pneumonia, gastroenteritis, septicemia;
- sheep and goats with dysentery, pneumonia, hoof rot;
- rabbits with acute rhinitis, pasteurellosis, enteritis.
Doses and method of administration
The drug is administered to birds and rabbits by the group method orally mixed with water at the rate of 2 g per liter of water on the first day and 1 g per liter on days 2 and 3. If the symptoms of the disease persist, then after 3-4 days the treatment is repeated.
For cattle, pigs and sheep, the drug is administered at a dose of 1 g of thromexin per 10 kg of body weight of the animal on the first day and 2 g of thromexin per 30 kg of body weight in the next 2-3 days. The drug can be administered with water or with feed: 1 kg of the drug per 2000 l of water or per 1000 kg of feed.
Side effects
It does not work in recommended doses. In case of an overdose of the drug, anemicity of the mucous membranes, irritation of the mucous membrane of the gastrointestinal tract, deterioration of renal function are noted.
Contraindications
It is forbidden to apply to laying hens. It is not recommended for use in animals that are hypersensitive to one of the components of the drug, as well as with renal failure.
special instructions
Slaughter of poultry for meat is allowed 5 days after the last use of thromexin. Slaughter of other animals for meat is allowed 15 days after the last use of the drug. Meat of animals and poultry, who were forcedly killed before the expiration of the specified periods, can be used for feeding fur-bearing animals or for the production of meat and bone meal. When working with the drug, you should follow the general rules of personal hygiene and safety measures provided for when working with veterinary drugs. It is forbidden to use containers from the preparation for food purposes.

The shelf life of the drug is 5 years.
