Barrier-Super 1 (fipronil)for puppies and kittens, 3 x 0.5 ml
Drops on the withers against fleas and ticks for dogs and cats.
Designed to protect animals from ectoparasites.
They contain the active ingredient fipronil, which is used to destroy and prevent infestation by fleas, parasitiform mites and lice at all stages of development in dogs and cats.
The active substance blocks the nervous system of ectoparasites, causing their paralysis and death.
The active substance is not absorbed into the blood of the animal and does not affect its nervous system.
The protective effect lasts up to 1.5-2 months.
Modern convenient packaging: polymer droppers make it easy to select the required dosage of the drug.
Description
Transparent oily liquid with a specific smell of the constituent components.
Structure
1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient:
fipronil – 80 mg;
excipients: propylene glycol, glycerin, isopropyl alcohol.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet QP53, ectoparasiticites, insecticides and repellents (QP53AX15, fipronil).
The active substance of the drug fipronil is a phenylpyrazole derivative.
Fipronil affects the central nervous system of ectoparasites without affecting the central nervous system of animals. The mechanism of action of fipronil in invertebrates is to inhibit the passage of chlorine ions in GABA-dependent chloride channels, which disrupts the functioning of the nervous system. Through the systemic blocking of the nervous system by fipronil, nervous overexcitation and death of ectoparasites occurs.
Fipronil exhibits a contact effect and is practically not absorbed through the skin. After topical application, the drug is distributed over the body surface within 24 hours, accumulates in the epidermis, sebaceous glands, hair follicles and is gradually released over a period of time. A “reservoir” effect is created, which ensures long-term residual activity of fipronil.
Application
Prevention and treatment of dogs and cats in diseases caused by ectoparasites: fleas (Ctenocephalus spp.), Parasitiform ticks (Dermacentor spp., Rhipicephalus spp., Ixodes spp.), Lice (Trichodectes canis, Felicola subrostratus).
It is also effective for ear scabies (otodectosis).
Dosage
The drug is used externally, directly on the skin, by applying with a dropper pipette to places inaccessible for licking: dogs in the withers and along the spine, cats – in the back of the head in doses:
- For puppies and kittens: 0.5 ml of the preparation;
- For cats: 1 ml of the drug;
- For dogs:
- body weight 2-10 kg – 1 ml of the drug;
- body weight 10-20 kg – 2 ml of the drug;
- body weight 20-40 kg – 3 ml of the drug;
- weighing more than 40 kg – 4 ml of the drug.
The drug is applied once. The preventive effect lasts for 1.5-2 months. After this period, if necessary, the processing can be repeated. In the treatment of otodectosis, the drug is instilled into the external auditory canal in an amount of 2-3 drops. Processing is carried out 2-3 times with an interval of 8-10 days.
