Pharmacological properties
The drug for local anesthesia, which occurs due to the restructuring of the autonomic innervation. The therapeutic effect of the drug occurs 15-25 minutes after administration and lasts more than 48 hours. Through interreceptors, novocaine affects the body’s metabolism, reduces the excitability of the central nervous system, improves folic acid synthesis, cell phagocytic capacity, increases the content of tissue enzymes, reduces the intensity of inflammatory processes and accelerates the recovery of animals.
Indication
Used for conduction anesthesia in surgery, removal of intestinal spasms, therapeutic blockades in the pathogenetic therapy of a number of diseases.
Method of application and dosage
Before use, the drug is warmed to the body temperature of the animal and administered intramuscularly or intravenously.
Doses and methods of administration of the drug depend on the purpose of use (infiltration of the solution into the tissues at the site of nerve passage, epidural administration).
Maximum single doses per 1 animal are:
- horses – 125 ml;
- cattle – 100 ml;
- goats, sheep – 25 ml;
- pigs – 37.5 ml;
- dogs – 25 ml.

Intravenous injections at maximum doses cause agitation.

Contraindication
Do not use in animals with hypersensitivity to novocaine. The drug is incompatible with tannins, alkalis, oxidants, heavy metal salts, hexamethylenetetramine (urotropin), sulfonamides.
