Cimalgex 80 mg, 16 tablets (Cimicoxib)
Active substance
Cimicoxib
Dosage form and packaging
Oral tablets (palatable).
Tablets of 30 or 80 mg.
Properties
Cimaljex belongs to the group of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs of the coxib group. It has anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic effects.
Mechanism of action
Cimikoxib belongs to selective inhibitors of COX-2 and acts mainly on the inflammation focus. The mechanism of action is associated with the suppression of the activity of cyclooxygenase (COX-2) – an enzyme that regulates the biotransformation of arachidonic acid into prostaglandins (PG).
Cimicoxib affects COX-1 significantly less, which causes its reduced effect on the mucous membranes of the gastrointestinal tract.
