AINIL (ketoprofen) Solution, 100 ml
Description
Transparent solution.
The composition
of 1 ml of the drug contains the active substance:
ketoprofen 100 mg.
Pharmacological action.
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent with analgesic effect and antipyretic properties.
Pharmacodipamic action
Ketoprofen belongs to the generation of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs based on propionic acid.
The inflammatory agent damages cells and activates phospholipidases that supply arachidonic acid. This is the basis for the cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzyme systems, which produce substances that provoke inflammation: prostaglandins, thromboxanes, and leukotrienes. Ketoprofen is a dual inhibitor of inflammation, blocking the pathways of cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase and, thus, preventing the formation of prostaglandins and leukotrienes.
In addition, ketoprofen is a pain reliever that affects the central and peripheral nervous system. Its action consists in directly suppressing the action of bradykinin, vasodilators and pain mediators.
In addition to the action against bradykinin, ketoprofen reveals the activity of the central nervous system, suppressing pain.
In addition, in horses, ketoprofen neutralizes the effect of endotoxins and counteracts intestinal spasms caused by bradykinin.
Pharmacokinetic data
Ketoprofen is quickly absorbed. In cows, peak plasma levels (8.025 ± 1.9 μg/ml) are reached less than an hour after intramuscular administration, and bioavailability is almost complete.
More than 98% binds to plasma proteins and accumulates in inflamed tissues.
It has a high affinity with synovial tissues. It spreads and is removed quickly.
The duration of action is longer than expected, according to its half-life, which lasts from less than one hour (intravenous administration to horses) to more than five hours (after intramuscular administration to cattle).
Significant concentrations of ketoprofen are found in synovial fluid and its level is higher here than in plasma, the half-life is 2-3 times higher than in plasma. Ketoprofen is metabolized in the liver to minor biologically active metabolites, and 90% is excreted in the urine in the form of glucuronide compounds.
Application
Cattle
Anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and antipyretic drug for the treatment of inflammatory processes caused by diseases of the respiratory organs, swelling of the mammary glands, acute mastitis, inflammatory processes in the musculoskeletal system.
Horses
Treatment of inflammatory and painful conditions in diseases of the musculoskeletal system, in particular: lameness of traumatic origin, arthritis, arthrosis, joint injuries (sprained ligaments, synovitis), fractures, tendinitis, hoof lesions (pododermatitis, lameness), postsurgical inflammation. Symptomatic treatment of colic.
Dosage
Cattle: intravenously or intramuscularly
Administer 3 mg of ketoprofen/kg (equivalent to 3 ml of AINIL per 100 kg) once a day for 1-3 days.
Horses: Intravenous
For the treatment of lesions of bones and joints, as well as the musculoskeletal system,
administer 2.2 mg of ketoprofen/kg (equivalent to 1 ml of AINIL/45 kg) once a day for 3-5 days.
For the symptomatic treatment of colic, administer 2.2 mg ketoprofen/kg (equivalent to 1 ml AINIL/45 kg) once.
Additional injections – only after repeated clinical examination of the animal by a veterinarian.
