Easotic 10 ml (hydrocortisone aceponate, gentamicin, miconazole)
Composition and form of release
The drug contains as active ingredients: hydrocortisone aceponate – 1.11 mg, gentamicin (sulfate form) – 1505 IU, miconazole (nitrate form) – 15.1 mg; and an auxiliary component: paraffin up to 1 ml.
10 ml bottle with ear tip.
Pharmacological properties
The complex of three active components provides both antibiotic and antifungal effects, as well as action to relieve inflammation and itching accompanying otitis media, thanks to gentamicin (in the sulfate form), miconazole (in the nitrate form) and hydrocortisone aceponate, respectively.
Hydrocortisone has a powerful anti-inflammatory effect. It inhibits the activity of various tissue-destroying enzymes – proteases and nucleases, matrix metalloproteinases, hyaluronidase, phospholipase, etc., inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, kinins, leukotrienes and other inflammatory mediators from arachidonic acid. It also lowers the permeability of tissue barriers and vascular walls, inhibits exudation of fluid and protein into the focus of inflammation, migration of leukocytes to the focus (chemotaxis) and proliferation of connective tissue in the focus, stabilizes cell membranes, inhibits lipid peroxidation, the formation of free radicals in the focus of inflammation, and many other processes that play a role in the implementation of inflammation. Also has a powerful anti-allergic effect.
Gentamicin actively penetrates the bacterial cell membrane, inhibits the protein synthesis of the pathogen. Highly active against aerobic gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Shigella spp., Salmonella spp., Enterobacter spp., Klebsiella spp., Serratia spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter spp. It is also active against aerobic gram-positive cocci: Staphylococcus spp. (including those resistant to penicillins and other antibiotics), some strains of Streptococcus spp. The fungicidal effect of miconazole is associated with a violation of the synthesis of ergosterol, a component of the fungal cell membrane. Miconazole binds to individual links in the ergosterol biosynthesis chain, which determines the fungistatic effect of the drug. The products of the disrupted biosynthetic chain are incorporated into the cell membrane of fungi, which damages its integrity.
Indications
Isotic is prescribed for the treatment of otitis externa in dogs caused by mixed infections (bacterial and fungal), including Malassezia pachydermatis, Staphylococcus pseudointermedius.
Doses and method of administration
Pre-clean the pet’s auricle from sulfur, mechanical impurities and crusts. This can be done with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of ear cleaner.
Before the first use, press the pump 2 times to fill the cannula with the full dose of the drug. Insert the cannula into the external auditory canal of the damaged ear and add 1 ml of the suspension. The suspension is applied to the ear once a day for 5 days.
Due to the presence of gentamicin in the composition of the product, Isotic brings relief to the pet in the shortest possible time, eliminating pain and itching, as well as reducing the swelling of the affected area.
Side effects
With proper use and dosage, side effects are usually not observed.
Contraindications
Do not use in dogs with a perforated eardrum. Do not use in dogs with hypersensitivity to active ingredients of the drug.
special instructions
Simultaneous use with potentially ototoxic drugs should be avoided. Use with caution in dogs with impaired liver and kidney function.
