Description
Crystalline powder of white or almost white color.
Structure
1 bottle contains:
benzylpenicillin sodium sterile salt – 1,000,000 IU.
Pharmacological properties
Benzylpenicillin sodium salt is a bactericidal antibiotic that belongs to the group of natural penicillins. The drug inhibits the formation of peptide bonds by inhibiting transpeptidase, disrupts the late stages of the synthesis of peptidoglycan of the cell membrane, and leads to the lysis of microbial cells that are dividing.
The drug is active against gram-positive bacteria, in particular Streptococcus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Bacillus spp., Listeria (L. monocytogenes), erysipylotrix (E. rhusiopathiae), most corynebacteria and anaerobic bacteria (actinomycetes. ), spirochetes (Treponema spp., Borrelia spp., Leptospira spp.). Most gram-negative bacteria, protozoa, viruses, fungi and rickettsia are insensitive to the drug. Of the gram-negative bacteria, only Neisseria spp., Pasteurella multocida, H. dugreyi are sensitive to the drug.
Application
Treatment in cattle, sheep, goats, horses, fur animals (foxes, polar foxes, minks), dogs of necrobacteriosis, pasteurellosis, pneumonia, mastitis, metritis, wound infections, otitis media, urinary tract infections, septicemia, phlegmon, actinomycosis, emphysematous carbuncle , streptococcal septicemia of cattle, sheep and goats, washing horses, stachiobotriotoxicosis, streptococcosis, staphylococcosis, infectious stomatitis, rhinitis, plague of fur animals and dogs and other diseases caused by microorganisms sensitive to penicillin.
Dosage
A solution of benzylpenicillin sodium salt is prepared immediately before use.
The contents of the vial are dissolved in 1-3 ml of sterile water for injection or isotonic sodium chloride solution, or 0.5% novocaine solution.

If allergic reactions occur, antiallergic drugs (norepinephrine or adrenaline, 10% solution of calcium chloride diphenhydramine) are administered to animals.
Penicillin is highly toxic for guinea pigs and hamsters.
