Structure
100 g of the preparation contains active ingredients (g):

glucosamine hydrochloride – 1.8;
chondroitin sulfate – 1.0;
meloxicam – 1.0.
Excipients: purified water, carbomer, essential oils of cedar and rosemary, nipagard.

“Equidol” gel for joints is a combined preparation that has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects, inhibits degeneration of joint cartilage tissue, slows down the progression of osteoarthritis, normalizes metabolism in hyaline tissue, stimulates the regeneration of articular cartilage.

Glucosamine hydrochloride is an amino monosaccharide used by chondrocytes in the body as a starting material for the synthesis of proteoglycans, glycosaminoglycans and hyaluronic acid.

Chondroitin sulfate in the body is formed from glucosamine, its molecule is 100-200 times larger than its predecessor. Polyanionic molecules of chondroitin sulfate are an integral part of the aggrecan structure and determine the cellular physicochemical properties of cartilage. In addition, chondroitin sulfate serves as the basis for the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, which provides the lubrication of the joints, which is necessary for their function. Chondroitin sulfate inhibits the action of proteolytic enzymes, reduces the activity of chondroitinase in synovial fluid, has a pronounced tropism for articular cartilage, participates in the process of bone mineralization, regulates calcium balance and promotes ossification processes. Meloxicam has a pronounced anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and analgesic effect. The mechanism consists in blocking the receptors responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandin E. Meloxicam belongs to NSAIDs of the oxicam class, is a selective inhibitor of COX-2, which is involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins in the focus of inflammation. The mechanism of action is associated with a decrease in the biosynthesis of prostaglandins as a result of inhibition of the enzymatic activity of COX-2, the absence of an effect on COX-1, which reduces the risk of side effects.

Meloxicam is metabolized by liver enzymes, excreted as metabolites in urine and feces. Average T ½ is about 20 hours.

Application
The gel is used externally for horses in a complex of therapeutic measures for degenerative-dystrophic diseases of the joints and spine – primary arthrosis, osteoarthritis with a predominant lesion of large joints, intervertebral osteochondrosis, osteoporosis, periodontal disease.

The gel does not need to be washed off. Compatible with other drugs.

Dosage
The gel is applied to the previously cleansed skin surface and rubbed in with light massage movements 2-3 times a day until complete recovery. After applying the product, it is necessary to ensure the rest of the animals for 20-30 minutes. Typically, the course of treatment is 2-3 weeks to 2 months. If necessary, repeat the course of treatment.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the gel.

Caveats
Avoid getting the gel on damaged skin and mucous membranes.

In case of forced slaughter of animals, the treated areas must be removed.
