Glucose solution 200 ml of 40%
Description:
Transparent colorless or yellowish liquid.
Structure:
1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient:
glucose monohydrate (in terms of anhydrous) 400 mg.
Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium metabisulfite, 0.1 M hydrochloric acid solution, water for injection.
Pharmacological properties:
Glucose solution 40% – carbohydrate nutritional preparation. Glucose provides replenishment of energy costs, activates metabolic processes in the body. A hypertonic glucose solution of 40%, when it enters the bloodstream, changes the osmotic-dynamic balance between blood plasma and tissue fluid, increases the osmotic pressure of the blood, accelerates the movement of fluid from tissues into blood; improves the antitoxic function of the liver, improves heart function, increases urine output.
Glucose in organs and tissues is phosphorylated, turning into glucose-6-phosphate, which activates the body’s metabolism.
The protitoxic effect of glucose is associated with its ability to form complex, less toxic compounds with poisons and toxins, and an increase in diuresis promotes their excretion from the body.
Glucose stores are stored in tissue cells as glycogen.
Application:
Treatment of animals with hypoglycemia; exhaustion; severe acute infectious and blood parasitic diseases; liver pathologies (hepatitis, degeneration, atrophy); decompensation of cardiac activity, shock, collapse; toxicoinfection, intoxication (poisoning during anesthesia, syinic acid, aniline, phosgene, etc.); lowering blood pressure, significant blood loss; is a solvent for some glucose-compatible drugs in order to reduce toxicity or prolong their action. It is used as a component of parenteral nutrition.
Dosage:
Introduce slowly intravenously 1-2 times a day.
Before injection, the drug is heated to the body temperature of the animal.
Dosage per animal (ml):
horses (body weight 500 kg) 30-120;
cattle (body weight 400 kg) 30-150;
sheep, goats, pigs (body weight 50-60 kg) 10-30;
dogs (body weight 12 kg) 5-10;
foxes, arctic foxes (body weight 6 kg) 1-5.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus.
Caveats:
Do not inject under the skin – subcutaneous tissue necrosis may occur.
With a rapid introduction into a vein, there is a risk of phlebitis, blood clots.
Glucose solution is incompatible with hexamethylenetetramine (urotropine), solutions of alkaloids (causes their decomposition), with general anesthetics (decrease in their activity).
Glucose weakens the action of analgesic, adrenergic agents, inactivates the action of streptomycin, reduces the effectiveness of nystatin.
Glucose solution lengthens the action of drugs, adrenaline, penicillin.
Release form:
Glass vials, closed with rubber stoppers for aluminum rolling, 100 and 200 ml each.
Storage:
A dry, dark place, out of the reach of children, at a temperature of 5 to 25 ºС.
Shelf life:
2 years.
