Description:

Structure:

Pharmacological properties:

The ointment has antiseptic, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory, keratoplastic, and muscle-free action; regulates vascular tone; restores blood circulation; reduces secretion and exudation; and accelerates the regeneration of the affected tissue. The antimicrobial and antiparasitic effect of ichthyol is explained by the content of sulfur and aromatic substances.
The ointment causes mild irritation of sensitive nerve endings and reduces sensitivity, relieving skin inflammation.
Application:
Treatment of cattle, horses, sheep, goats, pigs, dogs, cats, and rabbits for skin diseases (pyoderma, dermatitis, eczema, burns, frostbite, furunculosis); with arthritis, neuralgia, tendinitis, tendovaginitis, bursitis, myositis, mastitis, as well as with diseases of the hooves and claws.
Dosage:
The ointment is applied externally with a thin layer on the affected skin areas and 2-4 cm around them 1-2 times a day until the clinical effect; with arthritis, bursitis, myositis, mastitis – lightly rubbed into the skin. The duration of the course of treatment depends on the nature and symptoms of the disease, it can last up to 14 days. Before applying the ointment, the skin area is cleaned of mechanical impurities, impurities, residues of exudate, wool. The amount of ointment for a single application depends on the size of the affected skin area. To treat burns and enhance the effect of the drug on the affected areas, a bandage can be applied after applying the ointment.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ichthyol.
Caveats:
Do not allow the ointment to come into contact with mucous membranes and eyes.
Do not apply the ointment to milking and lactating animals.
Ichthyol is incompatible in solutions with alkaloids, heavy metal salts, iodide salts, ammonia solutions, and glycosides.
Prolonged use may cause skin irritation.
