Niglumin is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent for animals, which contains 50 mg of flunixin in the form of meglumine as an active ingredient in 1 ml, as well as auxiliary components. The drug looks like a transparent sterile injection solution. Niglumin is packaged in glass bottles of 50, 100 and 250 ml, packed in cardboard boxes.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Niglumin has anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antitoxic and antipyretic effects. The active component of the drug flunixin acts as a non-selective inhibitor of cyclooxygenases (COX1 and COX2), preventing the transition of arachidonic acid to prostaglandins, which are involved in the development of the inflammatory process. When administered parenterally, flunixin is rapidly absorbed from the injection site and penetrates into all organs and tissues, the maximum concentration in the blood is reached after 0.5-2 hours. Despite the short half-life (on average 4-5 hours), the drug is able to accumulate in the inflammation focus, providing a therapeutic effect within 24 hours. Flunixin is largely associated with plasma proteins. According to the degree of effect on the body of warm-blooded animals, the drug belongs to moderately hazardous substances and in recommended doses does not have a teratogenic effect and does not suppress immunity.
INDICATIONS Assign to horses, cattle and pigs as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic and antipyretic agent in acute inflammatory processes and pain syndromes.
