Oxyclozanide 600, (Oxyclozanide + abamectin)
Composition
1 g of the drug (1 tablet) contains active ingredients: oxyclosanide – 600 mg, abamectin 6 mg. Auxiliary components: starch, powdered sugar, microcellulose, calcium stearate.
Pharmacological properties
The drug Oxyclozanide-600 tablets has a pronounced trematodocidal effect, has a detrimental effect on all phases of development of Moniezia, Fasciola spp., Paramphistomum spp. and Dicrocoelium lanceatum.
The mechanism of action of oxyclosanide is to disrupt the phosphorylation processes in helminths, a decrease in the activity of fumarate reductase and succinate dehydrogenase, which leads to paralysis and death of trematodes.
Abamectin (avermectiniv B1), which is part of the drug, has a detrimental effect on the larval and sexually mature phases of development of nematodes of the lungs, gastrointestinal tract and eyes, larvae of subcutaneous, nasopharyngeal and gastric gadflies, lice, bloodsuckers and sarcoptoid ticks.
The mechanism of its action is to influence the magnitude of the current of chlorine ions through the membranes of nerve and muscle cells of parasites. The main targets are glutamate-sensitive chlorine channels, as well as gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors. A change in the current of chlorine ions disrupts the conduction of nerve impulses, which leads to paralysis and death of parasites.
When administered orally, the drug Oxyclozanide-600 tablets is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract and penetrates into organs and tissues; excreted from the body mainly in the urine and feces.
According to the degree of impact on the body, the drug belongs to low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST 12.1.007-76), in recommended doses it does not have embryotoxic, teratogenic, mutagenic and allergenic properties.
Application
The drug is prescribed for deworming cattle, sheep and goats with acute and chronic fascioliasis, moniesiasis, dicroceliosis and paramphistomiasis, nematodosis.
Dosage and route of administration
For therapeutic and prophylactic purposes, the drug is used once in a mixture with feed for cattle individually, small ruminants individually or in a group in the following doses:
Cattle
- with paramphistomosis – 1 tablet per 40 kg of animal body weight, with fascioliasis – 1 tablet per 60 kg of animal body weight;
Sheep, goats
- at the rate of 15 mg of oxyclosanide per 1 kg of body weight, including lambs up to 15 kg – ¼ tablets, sheep from 15 to 30 kg – ½ tablets, sheep, rams over 30 kg – 1 tablet.
Deworming of animals against sexually mature trematodes is carried out in November-December, against immature trematodes – according to indications.
A special diet and the use of laxatives before deworming are not required.
Side effect
As a rule, there are no side effects and complications when using the drug in accordance with the instructions.
In rare cases, individual reactions (depression, increased salivation, diarrhea) are possible in animals after application of the drug, which pass on their own and do not require the use of drugs.
A warning
Slaughter of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 14 days after deworming.
In case of forced slaughter of an earlier established date, the meat can be used as feed for fur animals or for processing into meat and bone meal.
Milk of dairy animals must not be used for food purposes within 24 hours after deworming. The milk obtained earlier than the established period can be used after boiling in animal feed.
