Description

Promectin (Ivermectin) Solution for injection, 50 ml

Description:

An antiparasitic drug containing ivermectin as an active ingredient, obtained by fermentation of the fungus Streptomyces avermitilis.

It is a transparent sterile solution of light yellow color, 1 ml of which contains 10 mg of ivermectin and auxiliary components.

Pharmachologic effect:

It has a wide spectrum of antiparasitic activity, is active against nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, pathogens of gadfly invasions, entomosis and sarcoptoidosis. The mechanism of action of the drug is to disrupt the transmission of nerve impulses in parasites, which leads to their paralysis and death.

The drug is of low toxicity for warm-blooded animals, in the recommended doses it does not have a sensitizing, mutagenic, embryotoxic and teratogenic effect. Excreted from the body with urine and bile, in lactating animals – also with milk.

Indications:

Cattle and sheep with dictyocaulosis, ostertagiosis, hemonchosis, trichostrongylosis, cooperiosis, chabertiosis, protostrongylosis, esophagostomiasis, nematodirosis, bunostomiasis, strongyloidiasis, siphunculiasis, hypodermatosis, estrosis, psoroptosis and chorioptosis; pigs – with ascariasis, esophagostomiasis, trichocephalosis, strongyloidiasis, metastrongylosis, sarcoptic mange and hematotopinosis.

Doses and method of application:

The drug is administered to animals in compliance with the rules of asepsis subcutaneously – to cattle in the forearm, sheep in the back third of the neck at a dose of 1 ml of ganamectin per 50 kg of body weight (200 μg of the active substance per 1 kg of body weight) of the animal;

pigs in the occipital region at a dose of 1 ml of ivermectin per 33 kg of body weight (300 μg of ivermectin per 1 kg of body weight) of the animal.

The drug is used in animals once, in severe cases of psoroptosis in sheep twice with an interval of 7 days.

To ensure accurate dosing of the drug, especially when it is used in small animals, it is recommended to use a syringe with an injection accuracy of up to 0.1 ml.

With the introduction of the drug in a volume exceeding 10 ml, injections should be carried out in several places.

Animals are treated against helminthiases before being placed in stalls and in the spring before pasture, against gadfly infestations – immediately after the end of the summer of gadflies, with sarcoptoidosis and entomosis – according to indications.

Each batch of the drug is preliminarily tested on a small group (7-10 heads) of animals. In the absence of complications within 2 – 3 days, they begin to process the entire livestock.

Side effects:

Not observed at recommended doses. In some animals, after the administration of the drug, a local pain reaction may appear, which spontaneously disappears and does not require the use of therapeutic agents.

Contraindications:

Toxic to fish and bees. It is not allowed to use milking, weakened and emaciated animals, as well as pregnant cows and sheep 28 days before calving (lambing).

Special instructions:

Slaughter for meat of treated animals is allowed 28 days after the last treatment.

In case of forced slaughter of animals before the established deadline, the meat can be used as feed for animals or for processing into meat and bone meal.
