Contraindications
Do not use in cases of hypersensitivity to active substances or any of the excipients. Do not use in cases of: – gastrointestinal ulceration – chronic gastrointestinal disorders – mechanical stenosis in the gastrointestinal system – paralytic ileus in horses – hematopoietic disorders – blood clotting disorders – renal failure – tachyarrhythmia – glaucoma – prostate adenoma. Adverse Reactions Horses and cattle may occasionally experience a slight increase in heart rate due to the inhibitory action of hyoscine-butyl bromide in the parasympathetic system. In dogs, injection site painful reactions may occur immediately after injection, resolve quickly and do not adversely affect the expected therapeutic benefit. In very rare cases, anaphylactic reactions may occur and should be treated symptomatically. If you notice any serious consequences or other effects not mentioned in this data sheet, please report it to your veterinary surgeon. Special precautions for use in animals Because of the risk of anaphylactic shock, solutions containing metamizole should be administered slowly when administered intravenously. Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product for animals In a very small number of people, metamizole can cause reversible but potentially serious agranulocytosis and other reactions such as skin allergy. Take care to avoid self-injection. In case of accidental self-injection, seek medical advice immediately and show this leaflet or doctor’s label. People with known hypersensitivity to metamizole or hyoscinebutylbromide should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product. Avoid using the product if you are known to be sensitive to pyrazolones or sensitive to acetylsalicylic acid. Wash off splashes of skin and eyes immediately. Use during pregnancy and lactation Studies in laboratory animals (rabbit, rat) have not provided any evidence of toxic effects on reproduction. No information is available for use during pregnancy in the target species. Impact on the smooth muscle of the birth canal can occur. Metamizole metabolites cross the placental barrier and enter milk. Therefore, this product should only be used in accordance with the risk assessment of the risk by the responsible veterinarian. Interaction with other drugs and other forms of interaction The effects of metamizole and / or hyoscine butyl bromide can be enhanced by the simultaneous use of other anticholinergic or analgesic substances. The concomitant use of inducers of hepatic microsomal enzymes (eg, barbiturates, phenylbutazone) reduces the half-life and, therefore, the duration of action of metamizole. The simultaneous administration of antipsychotics, especially phenothiazine derivatives, can lead to severe hypothermia. In addition, the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding is increased with concomitant use of glucocorticoids. The diuretic effect of furosemide is weakened. The combined use of other weak analgesics increases the effects and side effects of metamizole. The anticholinergic effects of quinidine and antihistamines, as well as the tachycardic effects of β-sympathomimetics, can be enhanced by this veterinary drug. Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes) The acute toxicity of both active substances is very low. In studies with rats, symptoms were nonspecific and included: ataxia, dilated pupils, increased heart rate, wasting, seizures, unconsciousness, and respiratory signs. In case of overdose, treatment should be discontinued. Physostigmin is recommended as an antidote to hyoscine butyl bromide. There is no specific antidote for metamizole sodium. Therefore, symptomatic treatment should be started in case of overdose. Due to the inhibitory effect of hyoscinebutyl bromide on the parasympathetic system, in some cases, a slight increase in heart rate was observed in horses and cattle after administration of a double therapeutic dose. Incompatibility In the absence of compatibility studies, this veterinary medicinal product must not be mixed with other veterinary medicinal products.
