Toltracox 2.5% (toltrazuril, trimethoprim) BAYCOX ANALOG, 100 ml
Oral Solution
Composition:
100 ml of the preparation contains active ingredients: toltrazuril – 2.5 g; trimethoprim – 2.5 g
Pharmachologic effect:
The spectrum of anticoccidial action of the drug Toltracox is based on the pharmacological action of the compound drugs – toltrazuril and trimethoprim. The combination of toltrazuril and trimethoprim has a synergistic effect in the treatment of coccidiosis.
Toltrakoks is effective against all types of eimeria (Eimeria acervulina, E. anceris, E. brunetti, E. necatrlx, E. mills, E. adenoides, E. truncata) found in poultry. The drug exhibits an anti-coccidial effect at all stages of the parasite’s development, which take place inside the intestinal epithelium cells. Toltrakoks is moderately toxic to poultry, does not interfere with the formation of immunity to coccidiosis. The preparation is compatible with feed additives, vitamins and medicines for poultry.
Toltrazuril, which is part of the drug Toltracox, belongs to the anticoccidial drugs of the triazintrione group. It has an eimericidal effect at all stages of the intracellular development of eimeria. Toltrazuril blocks respiratory enzymes, damages mitochondria and blocks the processes of fission of the eimerian nucleus, disrupting the formation of a macrogametocyte and causing the death of the parasite.
After oral administration of the drug, toltrazuril is slowly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching a maximum plasma concentration after 24 hours. The bioavailability of the drug is 70%. In the body, toltrazuril is metabolized by sulfooxidation and hydroxylation, with the formation of derivatives of sulfoxide and sulfone.
Toltrazuril is excreted slowly (half-life about 76 hours) unchanged and as the main metabolite of sulfonic acid, mainly in feces and partly in urine.
Trimethoprim is a chemotherapeutic drug that has a bacteriostatic effect against gram-positive (Staphylococcus spp., Streptococcus spp., Clostridium spp., Corynebacterium spp. And others) and gram-negative microorganisms (E. coli, Salmonella spp., Klebsiella spp., Proteus Pasteurelia spp., Bordetella spp. Etc.). It inhibits bacterial reductase, which converts dihydrofolic acid to tetrahydrofolic acid, which is necessary for the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines.
The absorption of trimethoprim from the alimentary canal is fast and almost complete (90-100%). Plasma protein binding is 45%. Rapidly distributed in tissues and body fluids. Trimethoprim passes through the placenta, enters breast milk. 50-60% are excreted by the kidneys within 24 hours, mainly by glomerular filtration and tubular secretion, with 80-90% unchanged, the rest in the form of inactive metabolites. A small amount (4%) is excreted in the bile.
Application:
Treatment and prevention of coccidiosis of broilers and replacement chickens, turkeys, geese and ducks.
Dosage:
For oral administration with drinking water:
1 ml of the drug per 1 liter of drinking water with constant drinking for 48 hours or
3 ml of the drug per 1 liter of drinking water for 8 hours a day, 2 days in a row.
This corresponds to a dosage of 7 mg of toltrazuril and 7 mg of trimethoprim per 1 kg of body weight per day, for 2 consecutive days.
If necessary (in severe cases of the disease), the course of treatment is repeated after 5 days.
The solution of the drug retains its properties for 48 hours. If a precipitate appears, the solution must be stirred before use.
Note:
during the treatment period, the poultry should be given water with the drug as the only source of drinking water.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. Do not use in poultry with impaired liver and kidney function. Do not use for laying hens
Warning:
Slaughter of poultry for meat is allowed 8 days after the last injection of the drug. The meat obtained by the specified date is fed to unproductive animals or disposed of, depending on the conclusion of the veterinary doctor.
Possible release form:
Glass ampoules of 1 and 2 ml, glass vials of 10, 50, 100 ml and polyethylene cans of 1 liter.
