Tube-syringe Ivermectin, praziquantel, pyrantel embonate
Description
Gel from light yellow to yellow.
Composition
The tube-syringe contains:
ivermectin – 120 mg;
praziquantel – 600 mg;
pyrantel embonate – 2000 mg;
gel base up to 30 g.
Pharmacological properties
Trio FORTE is a highly effective antiparasitic drug, the action of which is due to the pharmacological properties of the active substances: pyrantel embonate, praziquantel and ivermectin.
Ivermectin belongs to the chemical group of macrocyclic lactones and has a wide spectrum of antiparasitic action against nematodes (mature and larval forms), larvae of subcutaneous gadflies, causative agents of sarcoptic mange and animal entomoses (mites, hair eaters, lice).
Praziquantel is a quinoline derivative. Increases the permeability of cell membranes for calcium ions in cestodes and trematodes, which leads to rapid paralysis of parasites and destruction of their cell membranes, and inhibits glucose metabolism, which leads to the death of parasites.
Pyrantel embonate belongs to the group of tetrahydropyrimidines, acts on larval and sexually mature forms of gastrointestinal nematodes, including ascaris. Pyrantel is a depolarizing ganglioblocker that paralyzes the muscles of nematodes, after which they are excreted from the animal’s intestines under the influence of peristalsis.
Uses
For the treatment and prevention of parasitosis in horses caused by:
pulmonary nematodes: Dictyocaulus arnfieldi;
nematodes: Onchocerca reticulata; Parafilaria multipapillosa
by nematodes of the digestive tract of the following families: Strongylidae, Strongyloididae, Trihonematinae, Oxyuridae, Ascaridae, Spiruridae;
by cestodes: Anoplocephalidae;
by trematodes: Schistosomatidae, Dicrocoeliidae;
by gadfly larvae: Gasterophilus spp.
Dosage
For treatment and prevention, the drug is administered to horses once orally at a dose of 1 g per 20 kg of animal body weight. The drug is squeezed onto the root of the tongue from a syringe tube, which is inserted into the interdental space of the oral cavity, after which the animal’s head is raised for a few seconds. The required volume of the drug is determined by the syringe tube piston scale.
Prophylactic deworming of adult horses is carried out once every 3 months.
Contraindications
Do not use in horses under 4 months of age, in emaciated animals and in acute diseases.
Warnings
It is not recommended to use animals for heavy work for a week after deworming. Slaughtering of animals for meat is allowed no earlier than 28 days after the last treatment with the drug. The meat of animals treated with the drug, forcibly slaughtered before the specified period, is fed to unproductive animals or disposed of (depending on the veterinarian’s opinion).
