Description
Tablets of white or grayish color with a beef smell, weighing 0.5 g.
Structure
1 tablet contains active ingredient: albendazole – 250 mg.
Excipients: corn starch, powdered sugar, crosspovidone, calcium stearate, aerosil.
Pharmacological properties
ATCvet QP52A, anti-trematode, anti-nematode and anti-cestode veterinary drugs (ATCvet QP52AC11, albendazole).
Albendazole belongs to the group of benzimidazoles, which inhibit the polymerization of tubulin into microtubulins, as a result of which the supply and intracellular transport of nutrients and metabolic substances (adenosine triphosphoric acid and glucose) are disrupted, as well as mitochondrial reactions are reduced by inhibition of fumarate reductase, which causes the death of parasites.
When administered orally, albendazole is absorbed in the alimentary canal.
The bioavailability of albendazole is low. The time to reach the maximum concentration of albendazole sulfoxide is 2-5 hours. It binds to blood plasma proteins by 70%.
It is excreted in the bile as an active metabolite of albendazole sulfoxide, only a small amount is excreted in the urine.
Application
Prevention and treatment of dogs, cats and fur animals for invasive diseases caused by:
gastrointestinal nematodes: Toxocara spp., Toxascaris spp., Uncinaria spp., Ancylostoma spp., Trichocephalus spp.
cestodes: Taenia solium, Dipylidium caninum, Diphyllobothrium latum;
trematodes: Opistorchis felineus.
Dosage
Orally with food or by administering directly to the animal. For treatment – twice, with an interval of 7-8 days at a dose of 0.5 table. per 5 kg of body weight, with trematodes – 1.0 tab. per 5 kg of body weight. For prevention, deworming is carried out once every 3 months.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to albendazole. Do not administer to animals during pregnancy and lactation.
Possible form of release
Blisters of 10 tablets.
Storage
In the manufacturer’s packaging at temperatures from 2 ° C to 30 ° C and relative humidity no more than 75%.
