Description

ENROFLOXIN-K 5% (enrofloxacin 50 mg) FOR INJECTIONS, 50 ml

(solution for injection)
Description
A transparent solution of pale yellow or yellow color.
Storage
100 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient:
enrofloxacin – 5 g.
Excipients: potassium hydroxide, benzyl alcohol, highly purified water.
Pharmacological action
ATS vet classification code QJ 01 – antibacterial veterinary drugs for systemic use. QJ 01M 90 – Enrofloxacin.
Enrofloxacin belongs to the group of fluoroquinolones. The drug inhibits the synthesis of the enzyme DNA gyrase, which is the main factor of DNA catalysis in the nucleus of a microbial cell, as a result of which a rapid bactericidal effect occurs, the degree of which depends on the concentration of enrofloxacin, while the death of bacterial cells sensitive to the drug is observed within 20-30 minutes after his actions. Enrofloxacin is effective both in the latent phase and in the phase of bacterial reproduction.
The drug is effective against gram-negative and gram-positive microorganisms: E. coli , Salmonella spp ., Campylobacter spp ., Haemophilus spp ., Pasteurella spp ., Bordetella spp., Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae, Klebsiella spp., Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp. , as well as Mycoplasma spp .
Enrofloxacin is quickly and completely distributed throughout the body from the injection site. In the tissues, it reaches concentrations that are 2-3 times higher than the concentration in the blood. A particularly high concentration of enrofloxacin is observed in the lungs, liver, kidneys, bones and organs of the lymphatic system. The maximum concentration of the drug in the blood is reached after 1.5-2 hours and is maintained for 6 hours, and the therapeutic concentration – for 24 hours. The drug is excreted mainly in unchanged form with urine and bile.
Application
Cattle: treatment of animals suffering from colidiarrhea, cholesepticemia, salmonellosis, staphylococcal infection, mycoplasmosis caused by microorganisms sensitive to enrofloxacin .
Pigs: treatment of animals suffering from pasteurellosis, enzootic pneumonia, bronchopneumonia, colidiarrhea, cholesepticemia, salmonellosis, atrophic rhinitis, MMA syndrome (mastitis, metritis, agalactia) caused by microorganisms sensitive to enrofloxacin .
Dogs: treatment of animals with diseases of the digestive tract, respiratory organs, genitourinary system caused by microorganisms sensitive to enrofloxacin .
Dosage
Subcutaneously or intramuscularly in doses:
cattle – 1.0 ml of the drug per 20 kg of body weight once a day for 2-3 days;
dogs (subcutaneously) – 1.0 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight once a day for 5-10 days.
Intramuscularly in a dose:
pigs – 1.0 ml of the drug per 20 kg of body weight once a day for 2-3 days.
With frequent diseases of the respiratory organs, salmonellosis of cattle and pigs, the dose is doubled (1 ml of the drug per 10 kg of body weight) and administered once a day for 5 days.
