Antisedan (atipamezole) Solution for Dogs and Cats 10 ml

The composition of the drug

Solution for injection 0.5% sterile, clear, colorless, as the active substance contains atipamezole hydrochloride 5 mg / ml. Packed in glass bottles of 10 ml.

Pharmacological properties

The active substance atipamezole selectively blocks alpha2-adrenoceptors, resulting in the elimination of the sedative effect of medetomidine (Domitor), a stimulant of alpha2-adrenoceptors. The maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood is reached in 10-15 minutes. Atipamezole is oxidized mainly in the liver, a smaller part is methylated in the kidneys. Excreted mainly in the urine as metabolites. The half-life is 1 hour.

Indications for use

Elimination of sedative and analgesic effects of Domitor (medetomidine) in dogs and cats, as well as, if necessary, eliminate the side effects of Domitor on the cardiovascular and respiratory systems.

Contraindication

Antisedan is not prescribed to pregnant animals, is not used to eliminate the effects of other sedatives.

Method of application and dosage

The drug is administered intramuscularly once, 15-60 minutes after Domitor. The sedative effect of the domitor is usually removed within 5-10 minutes. If necessary, it is possible to re-introduce the anti-sedan in 10-15 minutes. For dogs, the dose of antisedan in ml is equal to the dose of Domitor. For cats, the dose of antisedan in ml is half the dose of Domitor.

Side effects

Hypotension is observed in dogs after the first 10 minutes of injection. In rare cases, vomiting, rapid breathing, involuntary defecation, short-term shortness of breath and muscle tremor are possible. In cats, the introduction of Antisedan may develop normal hypothermia after anesthesia.

Special instructions

Due to the strong pharmacological action of atipamezole, contact of Antisedan solution with skin and mucous membranes should be avoided. In case of contact with skin or mucous membranes, the contact site should be rinsed immediately with plenty of water.

Storage conditions

With caution (list B), in the manufacturer’s closed container, in a dry place, protected from direct sunlight, out of reach of children and animals. Separately from food and feed at a temperature of 15 ° C to 25 ° C – 3 years from the date of manufacture, after opening the bottle – no more than 4 weeks (28 days).
