Apramycin solution for injection for cattle, pigs, 50 ml
Composition and form of release:
Solution for injection in vials of 50 ml.
1 ml of solution contains 14.5 g of apramycin in the form of sulfate.
Pharmacological properties:
Apramycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic (aminocyclitol).
The drug has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity against gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria. It has a bactericidal effect on Escherichia coli, Salmonella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Proteus, Bordetella, some types of Mycoplasma (M. hyopheumoniae). Inactive against anaerobic microorganisms. The drug is well tolerated and has low toxicity in all animal species.
A unique feature of apramycin is the absence of the risk of formation of microflora resistance to this antibiotic: due to the peculiarities of the chemical structure of the apramycin molecule, it is not inactivated by aminoglycoside-modifying enzymes (AGMF) of bacteria, which ensures high efficiency even in the case of multidrug resistance of microflora.
When administered intramuscularly, Apramycin is rapidly and completely absorbed (bioavailability – 96%) and creates high therapeutic concentrations in the interstitial fluid.
The therapeutic concentration of the antibiotic after a single injection is maintained for at least 24 hours.
The drug is not metabolized and is excreted unchanged from the body mainly in the urine.
Purpose:
Apramycin for injection is used to treat bacterial infectious diseases of farm animals caused by microorganisms sensitive to apramycin: salmonellosis, colienteritis and colisepticemia, dyspepsia, gastroenterocolitis and other infectious and inflammatory diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia and other respiratory diseases of farm animals caused by sensitive to apramycin and microorganisms resistant to other antibiotics.
Dosage and administration:
Apramycin (solution for injection) is used intramuscularly once a day for 5-7 days in the following doses:
Cattle and calves – 0.1-0.2 ml/kg of body weight.
Pigs and piglets – 0.1 ml/kg body weight.
Sheep and lambs – 0.1 ml/kg body weight.

Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to aminoglycoside antibiotics. Simultaneous use with other aminoglycosides (streptomycin, neomycin, gentamicin, kanamycin) is not allowed. Refrain from simultaneous use with amphotericin, cephalosporins, osmodiuretics and muscle relaxants. In kidney disease, apramycin can accumulate in tissues, which leads to intoxication of the body (especially in cats).
