Description
Spectran (amoxicillin, Betamethasone) Solition for injection, 10 ml
Description
Suspension from white-cream to light yellow.
Composition
1 ml of the preparation contains active ingredients:
- amoxicillin (in the form of amoxicillin trihydrate) – 150.0 mg;
- betamethasone dipropionate (in terms of betamethasone) – 0.5 mg;
Excipients: benzyl alcohol, butylhydroxytoluene, butylhydroxyanisole, aluminum stearate, propylene glycol dicaprylate / dicaprate.
Pharmacological properties
Spectran is a complex drug with a pronounced antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory effect. The active ingredients of Spectran are the antibiotic amoxicillin and the corticosteroid betamethasone; amoxicillin – has a wide range of antimicrobial action, betamethasone – enhances anti-inflammatory processes in the body, prevents the occurrence of possible allergic reactions (including to the components of the drug).
Amoxicillin is a broad bactericidal antibiotic from the aminopenicillin group. It interferes with the synthesis of the cell wall, inhibiting the enzymes transpeptidase and carboxypeptidase, causing a violation of osmotic pressure in the bacterial cell, which leads to the death of bacteria at the stage of their growth. The drug is active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative microorganisms (Streptococcusspp., Pasteurellaspp., Haemophilusspp., Bacillusanthracis, Actinomycesspp., Clostridiumspp., Corynebacteriumspp., Erysipelothrixrhusiopathiae, Listeriamonocytogenes, Actinobacillusspp., Bordetellabronchiseptica, Fusobacteriumspp., Moraxellaspp., Proteusmirabilis, Salmonellaspp.).
The maximum concentration in blood plasma is reached within 1-2 hours after drug administration and remains at a therapeutic level for 48 hours. Amoxicillin is practically not metabolized. It is excreted from the body mainly in the urine, to a lesser extent in milk and bile.
Betamethasone – belongs to the group of synthetic corticosteroids, has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, anti-allergic, anti-proliferative effects.
Betamethasone inhibits the function of leukocytes and tissue macrophages. Limits the migration of leukocytes to the area of inflammation. Violates the ability of macrophages to phagocytosis, as well as the formation of interleukin-1. Promotes the stabilization of lysosomal membranes, thereby reducing the concentration of proteolytic enzymes in the area of inflammation. Reduces capillary permeability due to the release of histamine. Suppresses fibroblast activity and collagen formation.
Betamethasone dipropionate has a prolonged effect due to slow absorption. The bioavailability of betamethasone is approximately 72%, the half-life is 5.6 hours, and 64% is bound to plasma proteins. It is metabolized in the liver, excreted by the kidneys, and only a small part is excreted in the bile.
Application
Treatment of cattle and pigs:
in respiratory diseases (bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, rhinitis) caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin.
Treating dogs and cats:
with diseases of the digestive tract (enteritis, gastroenteritis, gastroenterocolitis), respiratory organs (bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, rhinitis) and the genitourinary system (metritis, endometritis, mastitis, agalactia, cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis), joints, skin and soft tissues; acute and chronic otitis media, operating rooms, wound, postpartum and other primary and secondary infections of bacterial etiology caused by microorganisms sensitive to amoxicillin.
Dosage
Intramuscularly or subcutaneously as a single dose
- Cattle, pigs – 1 ml of the drug per 10 kg of animal body weight;
- Dogs, cats – 0.1 ml of the drug per 1 kg of animal body weight.
If necessary, the drug is re-administered after 48 hours.
