Glucose solution 5%, 200 ml
Description:
Transparent colorless or yellowish liquid.
Structure:
1 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient:
glucose monohydrate (in terms of anhydrous) 50 mg.
Excipients: sodium chloride, sodium metabisulfite, 0.1 M hydrochloric acid solution, water for injection.
Pharmacological properties:
Glucose solution 5% – carbohydrate nutritional preparation. Glucose is a source of easily digestible energy and a muscle stimulator. Isotonic glucose solution activates the functions of the body’s cells, reduces acidity, especially during fasting and fat metabolism disorders; normalizes osmotic pressure in the cells and tissues of the animal body.
Glucose in organs and tissues is phosphorylated, turning into glucose-6-phosphate, which activates metabolism.
The protitoxic effect of glucose is associated with its ability to form complex, less toxic compounds with poisons and toxins, and an increase in diuresis promotes their excretion from the body.
Glucose stores are stored in tissue cells as glycogen.
Application:
For the treatment of animals with dehydration due to diarrhea, vomiting; shock, collapse, hypoglycemia; toxic liver dystrophy, hepatitis, diabetic coma in dogs with subsequent insulin administration; acute infectious or blood parasitic diseases; cardiovascular failure, drop in blood pressure; blood loss, internal bleeding; hemorrhagic diathesis. The drug is administered to weakened and exhausted animals as an energy agent.
Dosage:
Introduce 1-2 times a day intravenously slowly, subcutaneously (in different places).
Before injection, the drug is heated to the body temperature of the animal.
Dosage per animal (ml):
calves 120-500;
piglets 10-50;
pigs 200-600;
sheep, goats 120-600;
dogs 20-100.
Contraindications:
Do not use in case of hyperglycemia, diabetes mellitus.
Caveats:
With the introduction of the drug at the maximum dose, it is possible to develop overhydration with a slight violation of water-salt homeostasis (especially in emaciated animals).
Glucose solution is incompatible with hexamethylenetetramine (urotropine), solutions of alkaloids (causes their decomposition), with general anesthetics (decrease in their activity).
Glucose weakens the action of analgesics, adrenergic agonists, inactivates the action of streptomycin, and reduces the effectiveness of nystatin.
Glucose solution prolongs the action of adrenaline, penicillin, anesthetics.
Release form:
Glass vials, closed with rubber stoppers for aluminum rolling, 50, 100 and 200 ml each.
Storage:
Dry, dark place inaccessible to children at temperatures from 5 to 25 ºС.
Shelf life:
2 years.
