Principle of action

Meloxicam has anti-inflammatory, anti-exudative, analgesic and antipyretic effects. Meloxicam, like all NSAIDs, blocks the activity of prostaglandins by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase enzymes.
Meloxicam orally is completely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
Bioavailability when administered orally – up to 100%, protein-bound capacity – up to 97%.
The drug penetrates well into the synovial fluid and into foci of inflammation. Within 2-3 days of use, the concentration of meloxicam in the serum reaches a constant value. The concentration in the synovial fluid is about 70% of the serum concentration.
Meloxicam metabolites have no biological activity and are excreted in the feces (75%) and urine (25%).
