Ornidazole-50 Solution For Injection
Composition:
100 ml of the drug contains the active ingredient: ornidazole – 5 g.
Pharmachologic effect:
Ornidazole is an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent. Active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, Giardia intestinalis, Entamoeba histolytica; obligate anaerobic microorganisms: Bacteroides spp. (Including Bacteroides fragilis, Bacteroides distasonis, Bacteroides ovatus, Bacteroides thetaiotaomicron, Bacteroides vulgatus), Fusobacterium spp., Veillonela spp., Prevotella spp. (Prevotella bivia, Prevotella buccae, Prevotella disiens) gram-positive microorganisms: Eubacterium spp., Clostridium spp. Aerobic microorganisms are not sensitive to the drug.
According to the mechanism of action, it is a DNA-tropic drug with selective activity against microorganisms that have enzyme systems capable of reducing the nitro group and catalyzing the interaction of proteins of the feridoxin group with nitro compounds. After the penetration of the drug into the microbial cell, the mechanism of its action is due to the restoration of the nitro group under the influence of nitroreductases of the microorganism and the activity of the already reduced nitroimidazole. Recovery products form complexes with the DNA of the microbial cell, causing its degradation, disrupt the processes of DNA replication and transcription. In addition, the metabolic products of the drug have cytotoxic properties and disrupt the processes of cellular respiration.
Application:
Treatment of dogs with amoebiosis, dysentery, trichomoniasis, trichomoniasis uvaginitis, giardiasis, balantidiosis, skin infections, sepsis, meningitis, pneumonia, endocarditis, peritonitis, liver abscess, endometritis, diseases of the bones and joints caused by microorganisms of the lungs and the genus Bacterides, abscess sensitive to ornidazole. For the prevention of the development of anaerobic infections after surgical interventions, including after operations on the organs of the abdominal cavity, near-rectal region, gynecological operations.
Dosage:
Subcutaneously or intramuscularly at a dose of 1 ml per 10 kg of animal body weight (5 mg of ornidazole per 1 kg) once a day for 3-5 days.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ornidazole or other nitroimidazole derivatives. Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.
