Vetoquinol Oridermyl for Dogs & Cats ear ointment, 10 g
General information:
Oridermyl – the drug is a homogeneous yellowish gel, odorless, packed in an aluminum tube of 10 g.
Oridermyl is an ear ointment for dogs and cats with antimicrobial, antiparasitic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory effects, containing 350,000 IU of neomycin sulfate as active ingredients in 100 g of the ointment; nystatin 10,000,000 IU; triamcinolone acetonide 0.1 g; lindane 2 g; lidocaine 0.5 g, and auxiliary components.
The drug is packaged in aluminum tubes of 10 g and 30 g each and packed in 1 tube in a cardboard box. The tube and box are marked with the name, purpose, content of active ingredients, manufacturer, batch number, expiration date, storage conditions, and the inscription “for animals”. In addition, the address of the manufacturer is indicated on the box. Each packaging unit is provided with a temporary instruction on the use of the drug.
The drug is stored with caution (list B) in a dry, dark place, out of reach of children and animals, separately from food products and feed C. For animals, at a temperature of 15-25
The shelf life of the drug, subject to storage conditions, is 18 months from the date of manufacture. The shelf life after opening the package is 2 months.
Pharmacological properties:
Neomycin sulfate is a compound of the aminoglycoside group with antimicrobial action against gram-positive and some gram-negative microorganisms: Staph. albus; Staph. aureus; E. coli; Proteus; Corynebacterium pyogenes; Pseudomonas. Neomycin sulfate has a bactericidal effect. The mechanism of action is to disrupt bacterial protein synthesis, which leads to damage to the cell membrane and death of the bacteria.
Nystatin is a polyene group compound. Depending on the concentration, it has a fungistatic and fungicidal effect. The mechanism of action is to damage the cell membrane of fungi. Nystatin is active against: Candida spp., Cryptococcus spp., Histoplasma spp., Blastomyces spp., Trichophyton spp., Epidermophyton spp. Pityrosporum canis.
Triamcinolone acetonide is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid, has an anti-inflammatory effect, the mechanism of which is based on the inhibition of phospholipase.
Lindane is a contact antiparasitic agent. Acts on the nerve ganglia of insects and ticks, causing paralysis. Active against Demodex canis; Chorioptes bovis; Sarcoptes scabies and Otodectes cynotys.
Lidocaine is a compound of the amide group with a local anesthetic effect. The mechanism of action is to block the passage of a nerve impulse by depolarizing the neuron membrane.
Application procedure:
The drug is intended for the treatment of ear mites (otodectosis) in dogs and cats, complicated by a bacterial infection.
Before using the drug, it is necessary to carry out hygienic treatment of the auricle and external auditory canal. 1 drop of the drug is injected into the ear canal, then the base of the ear is gently massaged. The drug is used 1 – 2 times a day, with an interval of 1 day, for 6 – 10 days.
When using “Oridermil”, nystagmus, locomotor ataxia, loss of balance can rarely be observed. After stopping the use of the drug, these symptoms disappear spontaneously.
The drug is contraindicated for use in case of perforation of the tympanic membrane, hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, as well as puppy or lactating animals.
Precautionary measures:
When working with Oridermil, it is prohibited to drink, eat or smoke.
After finishing work, wash your hands with warm water and soap.
The animal should not be allowed near small children and other animals during the course of the drug administration.
In case of accidental contact of the drug on the skin or eyes, it should be washed off immediately with a stream of water, if swallowed, consult a doctor.
It is forbidden to use empty tubes from the preparation for household purposes.
