Description

White powder, microgranulated, odorless.

Pharmacological properties

Broad-spectrum anthelmintic from the group of benzimidazoles. It inhibits protein (tubular) synthesis, as a result, the intake and intracellular transport of nutrients, the exchange of substrates (adenosine triphosphoric acid and glucose) are disturbed, mitochondrial reactions are reduced due to the inhibition of fumarate reductase, which causes the death of parasites.

Effective against some larvae, as well as young and sexually mature nematodes that parasitize in the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract of animals, cestodes in the preimaginal and imaginal stages of the life cycle, sexually mature trematodes.

Indication

Deworming of animals for parasitic diseases caused by:

• cattle:
  • nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract: Haemonchus placei, Bunostomum phlebotomum, Oesophagostomum spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Ostertagia spp., Cooperia oncophora, Chabertia spp., Neoascaris vitulorum, Strongyloides papillosus, Dictyocaulus viviparus, Muellerius spp., Protostrongylus spp.;
  • cestodes: Moniezia spp., Thysaniesia giardia;
  • trematodes: Fasciola hepatica (sexually mature), Dicrocaelium lanceatum.
• sheep, goats:
  • nematodes of the gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract: Haemonchus contortus, Bunostomum trigonocephalum, Oesophagostomum spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Ostertagia spp., Cooperia oncophora, Skrjabinema ovis, Chabertia ovina, Strongyloides papillosus, Dictyocaulus filaria, Muellerius capillaris, Protostrongylus spp.;
  • cestodes: Moniezia spp., Avitellina centtripunctata, Thysaniesia giardia;
  • trematodes: Fasciola hepatica (sexually mature), Dicrocaelium lanceatum.

  • nematodes: Toxocara spp., Toxascaris leonina, Ancylostoma caninum, Uncinaria spp., Trichuris spp.;
  • cestodes: Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus granulosus, Diphyllobothrium latum;
  • trematodes: Opisthorchis felineus.

Contraindication

Do not prescribe to pregnant animals, especially in the first trimester of pregnancy, as well as in acute form of fasciolosis.

Method of application and dosage

Before use, the drug is mixed with feed and given once at the beginning of the morning feeding.

With the group method, the drug is mixed with a two- to three-day portion of feed and fed according to the diet.

Dosages of the drug for different species of animals are indicated in the table.

For livestock grazing on pastures, therapeutic and preventive deworming is carried out at the beginning and at the end of the stall period.

In the case of fasciolosis in ruminants, the drug is used at any time of the year. Depending on the intensity of the infestation, which is determined by the average number of fasciola eggs in five stool samples, the drug is used in the following doses per 10 kg of body weight:

• up to 4 eggs (weak intensity) — 1.3 g;
• 5-10 eggs (medium intensity) — 1.5-1.7 g.

Given that albendazole is ineffective against fasciol larvae, the first preventive deworming is carried out 2-2.5 months after the end of the grazing period, and the second one no later than 10-15 days before the animals are driven to the pasture.

Reservation

After the last use of the drug, cattle, sheep, goats can be slaughtered for meat after 10 days. Liver, kidneys, lungs, heart of ruminant animals can be consumed by humans after 20 days, milk – after 2 days.
